there are 2 types of "psychedelic mushroom" products currently being sold openly, and i have no idea which one this is.
one is that in some areas, mushrooms have become essentially decriminalized, and in these areas people have started selling branded and more professionally packaged mushroom products, and as an extension of that, some have had the courage to sell them openly online. the hope here is just that local law enforcement wont go after them and federal law enforcement has bigger fish to fry.
the second type of professionally packaged, openly sold "psychedelic mushroom" product are products that contain amanita muscaria, and often the labeling on the package is extremely deceptive, obviously trying to dupe people into thinking it contains psilocybin mushrooms. the product discussed in the link provided by lance is one of these amanita muscaria products. ive had quite a bit of experience with amanita muscaria that ive picked myself, and IME its not really a "trip" and i wouldnt call it psychedelic, its more just like a slightly trippy, dreamy sedative. for me, its honestly more similar to valium or alcohol than it is to psilocybin. however, there are countless reports of people getting strong psychedelic effects from these mushrooms. the effects, in general, seem wildly inconsistent, and regardless of how "psychedelic" people feel the effects are, it is NOT, in any way, a normal 5-ht2a psychedelic like L, mescaline or psilocybin.
at the moment, if the packaging does not explicitly say psilocybin, psilocybe, or at least provide a more vague reference like "contains cubensis", i would just assume it is an amanita muscaria product, or worse, a product that contains "nootropic" or adaptogenic mushrooms like lions mane. if you are an experienced mushroom eater, mushrooms are about the safest street drug you can buy due to how easy they are to identify. after seeing cannabis come out of the black market and into professionally packaged, openly sold products, these kinds of mushroom products might seem alluring, but its probably your best bet to continue using the black market as youve done in the past whenever possible.
looking at the website selling these gummies, it looks like i might be wrong on both counts. not psilocybin and not amanita. they do sell amanita gummies, but the product pictured is a seperate thing, their "desert stardust" gummies.
Instead, we utilize a proprietary blend of legal tryptamines to mimic its effects. Making this product legal to sell.
In an effort to create a unique product, we do not disclose the specific composition of the tryptamines used in our formula.
What is the difference between your amanita gummies and desert stardust gummies?
Muscimol is the primary psychoactive compound found in our Amanita muscaria mushroom, also known as the fly agaric. Muscimol is generally known for its sedative and dissociative effects. Users often describe a dreamy or delirious state of consciousness, with effects primarily involving visual distortions, a sense of time dilation, and a dream-like state.
Desert Stardust is well-known for its effects, resulting in altered perception, vivid visuals, and changes in thought patterns. It frequently induces feelings of euphoria and introspection, fostering a deeper sense of connectedness with one's surroundings and inner self. Additionally, our products tend to bring profound happiness, laughter, and joy, making them a great choice to enjoy with friends.
sounds like it is just straight up research chemicals. probably just 4-aco-dmt, which is supposed to be a prodrug for psilocybin, but i found it to be significantly less pleasant the handful of times i used pure powder 4-aco-dmt. if these products contain 4-aco-dmt or a similar substituted tryptamine, this is very much NOT legal to sell in gummy form. even the pure powders are in a big grey area and are likely prosecutable under the federal analogue act.
its also could just as easily be compounds that are technically tryptamines but are not psychedelic or psychoactive. 5-HTP is a tryptamine. terms like "psychedelic" and "visonary" are subjective and there is nothing stopping anyone from selling a dried shitake product marketed with those kinds of terms.
