sweet hat and great pre-game (literally) from Stu and Friends...

Hard to believe this is the last time my Orioles will play in Oakland.  If the Orioles win today, the A's and O's will be tied 146-146 for their all-time matchups in Oakland.

Sounds like you all had a fun time!

I realized yesterday was likely the last time I will hear Grateful Dead music played at the Oakland Coliseum Complex.....Stu and company played a great set!

A's bats ON FIRE today!

Today, mid-7th:  A's 17 -- O's 4.  Oh well, yesterday close:  A's 2 -- O's 3

The  A's beat up on the O's today 19-8 to clinch the all-time series of games played in Oakland between these two clubs.  They pounded rookie starter Cade Povich for 8 runs and he never got anyone out after that 1st Inning.  Dillon Tate and Cole Irvin didn't fare much better.  It was such a blowout that James McCann, the O's back-up catcher, pitched the 9th inning, giving up the last two runs.  Oh well, as Adam Jones once famously said, "sometimes you just suck".  Anyway, the Birds will be fine.  They still have the best record in the American League, 2nd best in all of MLB behind the Phillies, and a 2 game lead on the Stinkees.  Grayson Rodriguez is on the hill tomorrow.  I like our odds to win the finale.

>>>Hard to believe this is the last time my Orioles will play in Oakland<<<

Then don't believe it.

I'm guessing it's about 30% they end up back in Oakland with Joe Lacob the owner, 50% they end up permanently in Sacotomato's (where they really belong) owned by the Kings owner, with maybe a 20% chance they actually end up in Vegas with their current clown owner. And that's a generous 20%.

So fret not Dave, as in my opinion there's still a decent chance you can see your Orioles play in front of 6,000 people in Oakland in the future.

It would be great if the A's stayed in Oakland and got a proper new stadium.  Lots of good history for that franchise in Oakland.

Lots of good history for that franchise in Oakland>>>

Only team other than the Yankees to win 3 World Series in a row. '72 to '74. Tons of fun watching that team play.  Became a baseball fan  2 years earlier, Orioles over Reds in the World Series.

This week it was reported that the exact location of the ballpark is still TBD. They're still saying it'll be at the Tropicana site, but they are unsure of where the nine acre facility will sit. Remember the new renderings that were released? May as well wad those up too.

If the A's had a rock-solid partner to work with, this wouldn't be much of an issue, but instead they're stuck with Bally's, and they are going through it at the moment. Bally's is also trying to build a casino in Chicago, but don't have the cash to get that project done at the moment.  What happens with Bally's is anyone's guess, so let's focus on the fact that they still don't know where this ballpark is going. Construction needs to be underway by April of next year, which is now 11 months away, in order to have a shot at the proposed ballpark opening for the 2028 season. Not knowing where the ballpark will sit is a pretty big question mark, because it takes time to figure out the overall plan.

It also points to the larger fact that the A's just haven't been terribly detail-oriented throughout this entire process, which should be concerning.  From the jump it seemed like they didn't have a plan in Las Vegas and have just been flying by the seat of their pants throughout this entire complicated relocation process. They're acting like this is a group project where someone else's hard work will carry them to the finish line, but instead it's their thesis essay. They're not going to get help unless they can prove that they are serious people at some point in this process, and to this point, they just haven't done that.

Thanks for supporting my theory SI and krab.

Fisher is a buffoon. Just like all his previous plans this Vegas deal will fall apart, and that's when he decides to or is forced to finally sell the team.

Sacramento A's. I've always thought that had a natural rhythm to it.

That's where my money is. The region will completely embrace them and the Kings owner is smart and is clearly setting himself up for that very thing, but Joe Lacob is a wild card. He's the type of guy who gets what he wants, who wins, and he wants a baseball team. I'm sure he's watching all of this very closely.

Lacob snaked the Warriors out from under Larry Ellison in an 11th-hour deal, and if you can out-smart Larry Ellison and take something he wanted, then John Fisher and MLB is childs play.

I could also see Lacob buy them and then make it work in Vegas, because if you do it right Vegas is a money maker, and I'm sure the league wants a team there. But I also think Lacob would love to take on the Giants for Bay Area dominance.

It will continue to be interesting to watch.

GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!

uh sick free hat.

Hmm....smart Kleiner Perkins VC vs. the son of the Gap founders.........my money is on Lacob.

umm I want that hat

umm I want that hat pretty please...

Latest from Sports Illustrated on the move.... Dick Williams & Connie Mack must be turning over in their graves.

Ahead of the three-game slate against the Texas Rangers at the Oakland Coliseum, A's owner John Fisher wrote a letter to the Oakland fan base that has supported the franchise since it moved from Kansas City in 1968.   "There are millions of dedicated and passionate A's fans, in Oakland and around the world," Fisher wrote. "Countless dedicated staff members and Oakland Coliseum employees have poured their hearts into this team, and their efforts have meant so much to our community. I know there is great disappointment, even bitterness.  "Though I wish I could speak to each one of you individually, I can tell you this from the heart: We tried. Staying in Oakland was our goal, it was our mission, and we failed to achieve it. And for that I am genuinely sorry."

Fisher and the A's aim to move the franchise to Las Vegas by the 2028 season and plan to play in Sacramento for the next three seasons while they are between permanent homes. However, the construction of their proposed $1.5 billion ballpark project in Las Vegas is not yet underway. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported earlier this month that the ballpark design is "sitting at about 50% complete" while Fisher wants to begin construction next spring.   Although their relocation to Las Vegas is not officially official, the A's will indeed play in California's capital city next season at Sutter Health Park, the home of the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. Per the San Francisco Chronicle, the A's plan to lay off over 230 employees in Oakland after the 2024 campaign concludes as they move to Sacramento.   Like many of Fisher's public statements in recent years, his letter to the fan base was not received well by the A's faithful and the general MLB world.

In 2004 the A's gave Eric Chavez 66 million In 2005 John Fisher took over the A's.  20 years later.... Eric Chavez is still the biggest contract in A's history
