my fun summer gig

Forums:

is imminently ending

it began in May with an ad for a cook, which, shortorderwise, ain't my strong suit, but I applied as it was fairly local.

ended up getting hired one day weekly as a gift shop chick & museum docent in training.

fast forward to now, and it has mosdef been the best job ever! my direct manager is a badass scorpio, and the place itself was founded/saved by 2 strong and brilliant women. good stuff.

the volunteer who ran the gift shop retired in July(?), so my role grew to manager, more or less. plus I have gotten to do some cooking which is fun. And, yes, I actually made french fries in a fryerdevil

more importantly there is so much i have learned about this sweet little secret gem where living history is happening so that hopefully generations to come will be able to know the stories of the folks who worked and lived and played here in her heyday and beyond.

this saturnday is our last big shebang, and, after that, my official employment ends for the season.

hopefully i will vend at the holiday fair in december...and be asked back for next season

anyhoo, that's all.

Sounds pretty cool, but what kind of place is it?

Nice to fall into something that rings your bells ....
