.

Spent the last couple of weekends in southern Utah. Went down to Capitol Reef area for a wedding reception our friends turned into a Halloween costume party. Great fun. Great costumes.

Then this last weekend, I went to the slickrock country of Moab for the Moab Folk Festival (headlined by bluegrass bands? Sam Bush, Traveling McCoury's).

The La Sal Mountains yesterday from the loop road by Castle Valley, Utah. The dark feature just to the right of the road is Round Mountain.

But the best part of the trip.....

Driving home on Monday, I stopped along the river to have some quiet time and sit on the banks of the Colorado River for a while.

Upon leaving, I headed up the river road and happened upon two hitchhikers. They were kind of in a strange spot being about 14 miles or so up the road.

Don’t see many folks hitching there. Two backpacks and smiling faces made it an easy choice to stop.

I asked where they were headed and they said “Fisher Towers.” Not too far up the road.

I asked about them and found out they were from the Czech Republic.

They had flown to Alaska and landed four months ago to begin a backpacking/hitchhiking journey through the western US and south to the coastal cities of South America.

They met on Facebook during the pandemic. She’s from Prague and he was from a town north of Prague near the Polish border.

What an amazing experience to meet and chat with these amazing adventurers. A real day-brightener for sure.

This is Petr Nedomlel and Sofia Borzikova at the trailhead to Fisher Towers.

Cool story Slick.  Utah is an absolutely beautiful state. If you could just ignore the mormons.

Krab thanks for posting those.

Mrs. LCL was at the show, it was her first one.

She remembers the monkey act and Jerry being onstage all night.

Got On The Bus that day and stayed on for 54 years....and counting!!!

The dude with the chimp and the parrot looks like a hefty Pee Wee Herman.

That plane picture above begs the question: "where are gremlins when you really need them?".

Shoulda/woulda been my second GD show,  but I was insufficiently tuned in at that juncture to know about the show before it happened.

Apparently only one set, though.
