Deadco Sphere 2025, round 2

Forums:

On sale 12/10

Yuck.

DeadCo last shows, round 3.

I'm in! Psyched!

Yippee! I too am very psyched.

Ayahuasca, you don't just stare at the sphere night after night, you become the sphere. 6 hrs and no crowds.

Top that, deadco.

DeadCo last shows, round 3>>>

Opening act Babs Streisand and/or Kiss??

When is the Sphere going to book good bands?

Plenty of them out there.

just tried to get through a dead and co 1/2 step that came on the radio the other day and give it a shot.

can't do bobby at all, bless his heart. and was evident that mayer is a blues guitarist.

60th celebration?

10th anniversary of D&C.

15th anniversary of furthur

20th anniversary of The Dead

25th anniversary of the subway series

....because last summer wasn't enough.

I'll save my money and wait for Phish to come back.

30th anniversary of the day the circus left town

Mickey was excellent though.

I'd go if was just him.

Cool that people think things will be normal next Spring. I'm going to wait and see, but really the only reason to go back for Dead & Co is to hang out with friends. WrestleMania is the weekend of 4/19 that should be an interesting clash of worlds.

>>>I'd go if was just him.

I laughed out loud.  Well played

Kind of ironic that the photo in the advertisement showcases lots of exuberant dancing with plenty of room to move around outdoors under an endless sky.

To sell an indoor seated experience in a crowded, high security, "sealed" venue.

The former is reality-based "analogue" experience. The latter is a simulation-based "digital" one.

Progress....? (I'm guessing no facial recognition technology was being employed at the former.)

burnt toast

Jerry

I find the expression "Dead Forever' kind of depressing.

Instead of implying swaggering allegiance to a group (of outlaws e.g., Angels Forever) it spurns life and negates resurrection or reincarnation. Bummer.

shirts next

I can't wait for the cool t-shirts they produce this year.

Complete travesty

Hopefully they market the premier of the Johna Hill movie with the start of these show.

that could take this thread to another level

The Jonah Hill movie is on the backburner from what I can tell

a lot of haters in here.

I would at least try it out once, but so far, the dates aren't cooperating with my calendar.   Seemed like people had no problem getting cheap tix last year at the last minute on Cash or Trade so probably won't pull the trigger quite yet.

> a lot of haters in here.

Where's the hate? I'm seeing disdain and mockery here, but no hate.

To quote Charlie Brown, "Good Grief."  Pass.

The liquid blue shirts are gonna be epic

As they always are. Their bear designs are the Jerry beariest.

>>>a lot of haters in here.

Have you not spent anytime on the zone????

>>>I would at least try it out once

I discussed with a friend but I can't get into spending 2-3k on something that doesn't fully excite me.  All the people who go, love it.  And I'm intrigued by the sound system and checking out the experience.  Sounds very unique.

Something about watching a screensaver while zoning out to B music reminds me of college

>>>>spending 2-3k on something that doesn't fully excite me

I have friends that paid way, way less than that last year.  Like under $100.  I could probably use miles to fly to Vegas and just spend two nights, hang out in the pool and maybe catch an Elvis impersonator.

I'm hoping there will be other venues this summer sphere press release says only shows at the sphere in 2025 not only shows in 2025. 15 shows at MSG would be great

Raises hand

I'm Garcia dammit!  I had to put on 150 lbs, die my hair white and snort 6 kilos of blanco de la angeles for this gig.  Where's my fuckin movie?

>>Like under $100.

Plane, hotel, couple nights of tix.   Not cheap from the east.

Plus 7 nights of binging at the poker tables.

We did an entire weekend for around 1K all in, rooms are cheap....and tix are easier to come by than you think...we did 1 @ first weekend and 1 @ first weekend of August...definitely going back this spring.

So in my next movie Scorsese has me dressing up like a Dancing Bear……I said a “Dancing Bear”…What’s a Dancing Bear? It’s like a Furry for druggy suburban kids….And, get this…I get to play an overweight guy in sunglasses who loves to do coke… ya gotta love it….. I’m typecast… I’ll dress up like Sugaree for that… but now Martin just called and said the gig is on hold because the movie backers just spent all their investment money on tickets to the Sphere? Wtf? Then he said. "Unfortunately, the patchouli scented future smells like John, not Jerry”…What does that even mean?  He also said maybe I want to get some cosmetic surgery…I think he said “including femur extensions”?, and I havta check into rehab and that I should practice lots of gooney facial contortions. Yeah, like what Adam Sandler looks like on acid when he stubs his toe.…if I ever wanna get the good chicks and make the really big bucks. Rolex bucks....

weed is tight

The Grateful Deads have a brand new logo for their 60th anniversary!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XFiFjpGkDQc

Like I told Scorsese..."Don't cancel the Dead movie just because no one remembers Jerry Garcia. If he's ancient history I can still play the new guy. No problem. I got this. I just imagine I'm crapping an actual 6 ft tall Saguaro cactus out my backside the morning after eating a meal of Trinidad Scorpion hot peppers. I look just like the dude. Lights! Camera! Action!"

The Wolf of Wall Street Jonah Hilla.png

just got an offer to go in April

IDK, part of me sez no way the other, an expensive reunion with some old touring friends from the other coast.

when discussing the tempo of this band my buddy  said "he can't dance any faster so he's ok with it"... Ha

we will see...

Is there such a thing as negative shits to give?

How would this be expressed in a table?

-shit/s?

(shit/s)?

>>>Is there such a thing as negative shits to give<<<

When you're in the path of a tsunami, the best advice is to just get out of the way.

Like it or not, D$C is MASSIVELY popular with the young, middle aged and old. Whatever one's arguments, those who aren't into it are just the minor fringe.

Sort of like those of us who weren't really into post-coma Grateful Dead.

It's all relative, but ultimately it's all still multitudes of happy people loving & grooving to Grateful Dead music.

And what's really wrong with that?

LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!

Damn, here I am again, a minor fringe.

Ive seen them a few times over the years. Including what's considered some of their "great " shows. It's all just sterile and clinical sounding to me. Sure it's pleasant enough but there is no depth or boundaries pushed. Perfect for the Disney era of this franchise

When do we get to the fringe benefits?

> the Disney era of this franchise

Nailed it. On a couple of levels, at least.

When do we get to the fringe benefits? <<<<

HA HA thanks Surfdead ~ Rob

i saw one d&c show, john mayer did a scat singing section on a he's gone jam. that was enough for me

Jerry and Phil were the boundary pushers.. D and C is ok and fun just glad there is still an outlet for Bob and Mickey Mayer is a fantastic player.... He's got to pay for Henson's studio somehow... GD bulletin says Sphere shows are the first  of the 60th celebrations. I think they were planning FTW take 2 and now are trying to figure a way forward without Phil his rest his soul

my girlfriend is going

bless her heart

Saw their Colorado shows. I really enjoyed the 15 minutes pre and post drums space. The rest just felt like a giant family reunion.

Sitting here on drugs after the hip replacement. The whole thing is owned and produced by Mayer. Bob and Micky are his employees. They get a good cut, I think they made 40 million. Judit you not a minority. I know most of my friends that went only saw the dead in college with friends and never went back till they hit the sphere. The most embarrassing thing I have seen was dead and co at Jazz fest it was so slow impossible to even dance, the worst show in my 66 years except for disco biscuits opening for Phil at Red Rocks or them at the Greek opening for Phil

Heal fast and well Doc.
