It's so odd that up until very recently the Grateful Dead were always a square peg in a round hole world. Now it's become hip to be square.

Another example of how if you live long enough you see everything come around in a circle.

The Grateful Dead have become mainstream.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think it's great that new generations and people of all ages are still discovering the magic of the Grateful Dead, but after watching that Lincoln Center Honors debacle and now looking at this dress-up all-star music industry event, a quote from A Prayer for Owen Meany comes to mind...

I'd like to see Dwight do the shuffle version of Jack-a-Roe. 

A little bit of a hot mess of a lineup but I'd go - if it's a gala fund raiser tix will be way out of my price range.
