Yes as indicated in the chart I posted ...but for those of us who travel it's important to get in ahead of official announcements as it secures the best possible lodging rates....Looks like the dates are firming up... imminent I'd imagine
Another way to look at it, Is that if Rock Band is a game, The Stones have won. They only have to play every 4th day, they can play any size venue, they travel in their own jet, and keep breaking records for tour earnings. Yes, what a drag it is growing old.
not being ageist at all - it must take quite a toll for 70+ and 80+ yr olds...i know what a few long weeks on the road does to me and im not quite 60...
fuck, i l know what ONE long week on the road can do to me
Ok fair enough, it read a bit more cynical than that. Even their 2 date cities have breaks nowadays, it is what it is and they are still a spectacle... I saw that tour in Syracuse 81. Was good stuff then too. Good loud loose garage
Summer of '81...George Thorougood / Heart / The Stones early part of the summer - later that summer was Johnny Cougar ( soon to drop the cougar and become Mellancamp ) - Jethro Tull and The Who...
UC Boulder...not a bad summer with all the Red Rocks shows in between.
Just finishing up Keith's book, which came out almost 15 years ago. Even then, he was going off at the end of the book about the mega tours and how physically taxing the shows were. He estimated that he ran five miles per show and Mick runs ten (but doesn't carry a guitar).
I saw the first two that summer at the old JFK stadium in Philly. George Thorogood & The Destroyers and Journey were the openers.
We were in the lot all night for show one & on the field about 30 yards from the stage. I grabbed a hot dog from a vendor in front of the stage then made my way to the side to purge. I watched George from benches on the side of the field. After recovery I spent the rest of the show and the next day on the field Rolling.
Still have the button that was tossed to encourage those on the field to sit while waiting for the show to begin.
They had been around for quite a while at that time. So I was thrilled to see them before they were done
Summer '81 was my first show at all. I was 9 years old. We lived less than a mile from Rich Stadium and the wind was coming our way. We heard it clear as day all day from our backyards. First Thorogood, then Journey, then the Stones. I liked Shattered then, and She's so Cold especially.
