Grateful Dead [1080p HD Remaster] August 18, 1989 Greek Theatre - Berkeley, CA [Full LIVE Show]
This video, shot/recorded & Re-Mastered collaboration, recently released, is a gem. Recorded in 1989 @ Berkeley's amazing and intimate Greek Theatre, it was before my time in California, so it's a real treat for me! Brent was in his 10th year in the band, and they were tight, but loose in spirit and camaraderie, playing to the Home Crowd!
Thanks to all who worked on it!!!

The final Greek run, because
The final Greek run. Final because it was a total shit-show inside and especially outside the venue.
8,500 ticket holders, maybe 14,000 total people showed up each day, swarming the urban college setting, trashing the campus & neighborhood, jumping the fences and crashing the gates.
Bill Graham, knowing the college & city were right on the edge with the whole GD mess was pleading with the Shakedown hoards to respect the setting and imploring his staff to pass that message on.
The hoards didn't care.
I was there for all of it. How was the music? I don't know, I was chin deep in the shit-show all weekend to notice much about the music.
The only thing I remember about that run is the pervasive sadness felt in those of us on staff who cared.
We all knew that weekend was the end of something. The end of something that had been seriously cool for a very long time. Something far bigger than just the Greek.
We were right.

We all knew that weekend was the end of something....
Maybe the reason for the last song at the venue being "FOOLISH" Heart, an unreleased new song to end the run.
Something felt off in the Sunday show, very typical late 80's set list. Only 2 Garcia songs in the 1st set?

There was no Sunday show, the that run was Thursday-Friday-Saturday and the last show, August 19th was IMO stunning (stellar set 2) and by far the best of the run.
