Heard about this... go Cory, goooooo.... give those racists he'll!

He's still going

((((( good trouble )))))

I am officially in love with him and proud of living in New Jersey maybe the only time ever

Sen. Booker is tenacious, smart, caring, clear, committed, and has many other qualities that make him hold a place in my heart.

Still going, as seen on C-Span2.

hes gonna be running if we still have elections in '28...or if he isnt disappeared before then

Nice to see a Dem taking a symbolic stand! If that's the most they can do at the moment, then DO it!

25 hours and he still looks fresh. Amazing.

The guy hasn't even left the room to take a piss

savage

I emailed his office to thank him.

Is this actually accomplishing anything, or is it just more ultimately empty showboating while the majority runs the table on us?

Yeah, it is

It's pretty hard to run the table while there's a man standing on top of it

There's not much ammo to stop "the majority running the table on us," but seeing things like this will wake people up and give some of us some hope, fleeting as it is. Hopefully the courts stay strong.

And to answer the question above, yes and yes. There's been a bit of a void in the messaging from the opposition party. That void was recently occupied by Bernie and AOC. Love 'em both. But I'm not sure they are the near-future of the demo party and maybe Booker just took the reins. Put his fist down and woke up the country with the longest speech ever in the Senate. That he beat Strom Thurmond in doing it probably made it sweeter. He'd be a helluva candidate for President, more electable than Newsome.  JMNSHO. YMMV.

Liberal Wins Wisconsin Court Race, Despite Musk’s Millions

Susan Crawford defeated Brad Schimel for a State Supreme Court seat in a race that shattered spending records and maintained a liberal majority on the court.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/01/us/politics/wisconsin-supreme-court-c...

Well, I'd say that despite lots of good talk and some good action, the table is being run right in front of our faces.

Far out on that Wisconsin deal, just because fuck Musk.

Or really fuck Trump, because despite his despicable ways I understand very well Musk's particular situation, so ultimately I blame those who allow Musk to be so involved far more than I blame Musk himself.

Still, fuck Musk, because despite his issues he could still know better.

IMHO, the only way out of this rising tide is for non-voters to step up and vote (hand raised) and maybe more importantly, for MAGA voters to wake up and switch over during the few remaining voting cycles that do not become totally controlled by The Machine.

And who's betting on that?

So keep talkin' Booker and others, and rah-rah because something is better than nothing, but we're only two months into this new regime and the blood is already gushing. They're just getting started, and they've got the power. And that's real trouble.

This too shall pass, but it's definitely gonna' get darker before the dawn, so stay buckled up kids.

^^^ That was sure good news, Mike.

I saw where demo strategist Mike Nellis (White Dudes for Kamala) wrote:

Cynics are going to call Booker's speech a stunt. Maybe—but stunts aren’t necessarily a bad thing. The name of the game is attention. Trump and Musk are very good at it. Democrats have struggled to take these kinds of risks to our own peril—but Cory is paving the way forward.

His speech today was the #1 livestream on YouTube.

It has an insane number of likes on TikTok.

It’s the top story for every local news outlet today.

That’s a hell of a good stunt, imho.

Just wonderin' Lance, any suggestions for effective resistance? I'm struggling, too. 50501 rally on Saturday.

But I got involved in something locally and we just won an amazing victory, at the Utah legislature of all places. Shouldn't be hard to sell property tax relief for low-income seniors, but you'd be surprised. Haven't quit smiling since last Thursday night.

Cory's thoughts:

I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

What’s most clear to me tonight is that this is just the beginning, that Americans across this country, no matter their title or party, are ready to be heard.

I believe that history will show we rose to meet this moment. It will show we did not let the chaos and division go unanswered.

It will show that when our president chose to spread lies and sow fear, we chose to come together, to work together, and to rise together.

With love and gratitude,

Cory

I got nothin', except that the people who are actually in the game have to generate change. Booker's in the game and he just played well to his side, but did he generate any actual change?

And to me that means speaking to the MAGA hoards/the majority of this country and getting them to listen.

I don't think listening is either side's best side and unfortunately I don't think Booker changed any minds this week, but as an example of what might make a difference, maybe Gavin Newsom leaning a bit more right lately and more importantly doing his podcast where he is talking with the those who the MAGA nation actually does listen to is a good start.

IMO, there is way too much preaching to the choir on the left, which makes everyone on the left feel good but the fact is that the left is losing, and to make actual change it's way past time to find ways to talk to the opposition where they actually listen.

But for that to really happen it will take the Trump team to continue to take us all down the rabbit hole of chaos he's been creating lately and pissing off even his base, but I believe that ultimately he/they will pull back at the last moment, settle things down a bit and then act like he saved the day, presenting himself as the hero. And his base will eat it up like children eat candy.

Remember, he's just getting started; he's still got three and a half years to go. That's plenty of time for him to continue to deflect attacks while systematically crushing down his opposition and play up his phony accomplishments, all the while little by little shaving down the constitutional barriers to total control.

So, talk is great but bottom line to beating this attack on our democracy is getting the Trump/right wing supporters to change their thinking and vote these bums out.

And that means talking to them, listening to them, compromising with them and finding real ways to appeal to them.

And that definitely doesn't sound like modern America.

So, suggestions? Compromise. The left needs to adjust their game plan and find ways to appeal to those on the right who aren't "true believers", and until then we all need to hope that judges and the overall system doesn't completely break down until cooler heads prevail.

If nothing else, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

GTTS!!!!

What you have to remember is that you are dealing with a full out cult at this point so deprogramming has to be the first step somehow.

It's either that or the "leaders" have to do something bad enough to affect the members directly and painfully enough for them to come out of it

Still and all I am happy about him doing that and yes it's going to get so much worse

My hope is that half of the things I've said might/could happen don't

Bump so it's not at 911

Here's a great tune someone turned me on to tonight. "We Are Great Again" by Billy Simons Jr.  New to me. Good stuff.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nflg8qlqWZg

GREAT song!

Good song Slickrock

Great song, well done. Thanks, Slickrock.

Well done, but I can't call what might be the saddest song ever a great one.

I get that, Mike, but it's so well crafted that it became great to me.

It's the sadness that makes it great, Mike.

On the day of his "epic fillibuster" (translation: audition for 2028 presidential nominee), Cory Booker had been scheduled to attend important hearings held to hold Big Tech/Silicon Valley accountable for antitrust violations.

This volatile hearing was a LOSE-LOSE for Cory Booker. He owes his soul to Silicon Valley Billionaires, who contribute vast amounts to his campaigns. If he participated in a public, televised brawl of politicians grilling and humiliating these Big Tech Barons, he'd be attacking his biggest money donors. If he did NOT grill them... his lackey subservience to billioinaires would be on view for all to see -- and video clips for use in campaign ads against him.

How did Booker, the ranking Democrat who should have presided at that committee hearing, manage to avoid this dilemma? By staging a headline-grabbing fillibuster. It made him a hero to all the low-information voters (which is 95% of voters), and he avoided the lose-lose meeting.

On one hand, I acknowledge Booker for being good at playing the political game. On the other hand, I despise Booker for being good at playing the political game -- because it should not be a game. People's lives are at stake. With politicians like Cory Booker, our lives don't matter. Big Money Donors matter.

If Dems make the mistake of nominating Cory Booker... the party will continue to lose and the American people will continue to lose.

Well hell
