Hardy Cyclamen is a
Hardy Cyclamen is a particularly lovely plant with beautiful leaves and delicate sweet flowers. The flowers bloom in the fall and the leaves appear in winter.
I have swaths of them growing in my yard that all came from one small patch many years ago. The plants create seeds that are covered with a sweet coating that attracts ants; the ants move the seeds around and new plants appear. It blows my mind that ants do the work of transferring the seeds to so many places so far apart. The plants grow out of corm-like discs that look like rocks - there are some in my yard that are have gotten as big as 4" across.

Getting bit by leaches is good for you. They carry no disease and inject you with a combination of an antibiotic, a pain killer, and an anticoagulant.
The anti coagulant is so good that they use them in modern medicine for reattaching severed body parts. They will put leaches on the wound which keeps the blood flowing.
There was a medical leach growing facility in Scottland where they had shallow pools with cow intestines that they filled with blood to feed the leaches. Animal rights activists showed up one day to protest. All they knew was that the facility breed animals for medical research. The owner invited the activists in and showed them the intestine pools with thousands of leaches attached to them. After the tour the activists said never mind all good here.
Only been bit once in Thailand out on a hike. You could see them on the trail in the forest on the ground - they were tiny maybe a half inch long. If you waved your hand over them they would stand up and follow your hand back and forth because they could smell the blood. One of the fuckers got on me and crawled up to the middle of my back. I had no idea until I took my shirt off at the river we were hiking to. It was full about a 5 inches long and as thick as my thumb. My wife knocked it off no problem but it did bleed for about 4 hours due to the anticoagulant.
