NFL 2025 / 2026

Yep. It's the start of another (pre)season of pro football. A game where large athletic men toss around small athletic women for our entertainment.

Untitled_79.jpg

And simultaneously, on the same field, other large athletic men toss around and run with an odd-shaped ball, also for our entertainment.

Let us pray our group of other large athletic men run faster than yours.

So far, so good. The Ravens won their first preseason game. More importantly, they look pretty damn good (on paper) this year. On both sides of the ball.

Most importantly, it's gonna be a brand new season...and anything can happen. I can't wait.

I think we have a winner!

I believe that's Tori M. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/cheerleaders/roster/

Is the age you need to be to cheerleader 15?

The stand out to me is the perfect teeth. I'm jealous.

What's with the Stunt Team being listed under Cheerleaders? It's creeping me, I'm only somewhat liberated. Is that a Bawlmer thing? Those boys should have their page, come on, it's 2025, or 26.

On to minor details, the Ravens are #2 in many pre-season polls. That leaves little wiggle room regarding expectations.

Alan, are you comfortable with that?

astro -  Yikes! I think most of those photos look AI-generated so until I go to a game myself to verify those folks are real...

The Ravens -- renowned for blowing it in the playoffs after very decent seasons -- look really tough going into Sept. Only two major injuries so far!

As last year, if the offensive line (probably the team's weakest link) can protect Lamar, we should put together a winning record. I'm predicting a 13 and 4 season.

Have to say early season games usually disappoint but last night everyone came out spitting nails. Great way to start the season. Also love watching Cowboys vs. Eagles games because you can always be happy no matter what bad things happened to either team.

the chargers will choke in the last 1:37 seconds yet again...

Good start to the season when Dallas AND KC go down :)

Turtle, your team is well coached now, you have to get out of that old defeatist mentality.

Harbaugh knows how to win, and tonight was a classic Harbaugh win.

And yet, his & his staff's lacking were also on display tonight......

Everyone was bashing on the rookie playing in his very first game for running out of bounds at the end of the first half, but what are coaches for?

Somebody, starting with the head coach through the offensive coordinator to the veteran QB should have made sure the rookie was reminded in the huddle to not run out of bounds.

It's that little extra yet simple insight that Harbaugh lacks. It will eventually cost the Chargers (as it cost the 49ers) but until it does that guy knows how to grind out wins, and the Chargers are going to win a lot of games like tonight's.

Two good games to open the season, especially tonight's very well played game.

We were all reminded again how great that fucker Mahomes is. But tonight it wasn't quite enough.

Now we roll.

Good luck to all who care, and.............

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!

Sheesh. Quite an opening week. A brutal grinder for my 49ers and a heartbreaker for Alan.

I hope the snacks were good Alan. That was a tough one, but it's only Week 1, overall your team looked real good.

My team needs a kicker, any of you good at kicking???

Lots of exciting football played so far, we're off to a good start!

(fucking kickers)

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!

Well if ya want to be amused and angry and bewildered and disappointed, read the comments in the Baltimore Sports pages this morning. The best line I read ---- "Game 1 and the Ravens are already in playoff form."

I take full responsibility for this seemingly impossible loss. Due to a scheduling snafu, I was down in DC at a family event without a TV, radio or cell phone for the first three quarters of this game and they were winning. As soon as I got in the car for the ride home I turned on the radio and tuned in -- they were still winning. With a comfortable lead.

With 5 minutes left in the game we pulled into the driveway and I jumped outta the car, rushed into the house, ran downstairs, grabbed the remote and turned on the tube to watch......ahhhhhhhh !!!!! Somehow MY TV triggered the i(inevitable?) last-minute Ravens meltdown. I sincerely apologize.

Untitled_85.jpg

Maybe I just caught the better games, but it seemed like the best week 1 performances I can recall.

"Game 1 and the Ravens are already in playoff form." They might have lost a squeaker, but they looked mighty good. Bills imo, have left fans disappointed many times since Allen has been QB, so they are due. I'm skeptical till they hoist the Lombardi Trophy.  It's just the first game. Certainly a kick in the sac for the Ravens. I question whether there is any motivation as a result as this has happened so many times.

While I expected the Niners to win. I was just listening during the first quarter when the Seahawks got called for hitting Purdy in the what could have been a difference maker call? The Seahawks' Radio announcers flat-out said "bad call". Lance-  In your unbiased opinion, how'd it look to you? The Niners paid a price for that one. Given how many changes the Seahawks made in the off-season, I am hopeful.

thanks lance, agreed.

wow ravens pulled a charger!

>>>Lance-  In your unbiased opinion, how'd it look to you<<<

Well, I may not be completely unbiased, but I do think the less penalties called the better the game, and when the 49ers get a gift I look closely at it because even when it benefits my team I hate ticky-tack penalties.

That said, I thought by modern rules it was a close but fair call. The contact happened well after Purdy had thrown the ball. The Seahawks player, who was MASSIVE, was chasing Purdy and took two or three running steps after Purdy threw the ball and slightly turned into him, gave him a glancing shoulder and subtle headbutt as he ran by. It didn't look like much but the guy was huge, Purdy had clearly thrown the ball, there was head to head contact and Purdy, who's NOT a big guy, went flying.

Roughing the QB rules aren't new and the Seahawks player could/should have easily avoided any contact. Ticky-tack? Probably, but it wasn't phantom or random contact during a play. If it had been a 49er who did it I would have been pissed at him more than the refs.

It turned out to be a big play in the game, but as always the 'hawks got some breaks too.

Overall, it looks like the Seahawks have room to grow on offense but it sure looks like their defense is getting back to elite status.

Fuckers.

As for the 49ers, they're good but top heavy. If/when their good players start getting hurt (Kittle and Jauan Jennings are already likely out for a while) there's a big drop off to the second stringers. But with Saleh back and some new young players the defense looks much better, so they should be interesting enough to pay attention to, but at least at the moment are not in the same class as the best teams. The NFC West is going to be a brawl this year.

GN!!!!!!!!!

Agree it's 2025. Don't touch the QB unless they have the ball. It's not complicated.

Thank Lance. I wouldn't expect you to be completely unbiased. If the defender turned into him, that is unacceptable.

I sure hate when injuries have a huge impact on a team, but it's going to happen. They can change the entire season, which really sucks.

It usually does work both ways to some degree. It's never going to be perfect.

It all reminds me of Brady's take on how much the rules have evolved to protect QBs.

The rule is simple. Fairly applying it might be a different matter at times. One example is the rusher is high-tailing it to the QB, but he pump fakes it, the defensive player won't know it's a pump-fake and hits the brakes. IMO that is a shitty deal for defenders.

>>>IMO that is a shitty deal for defenders.

Sucks for defenders particularly when it comes to Mahomes who has weaponized the rule on all his runs.

rooting for Darnold. home town HS QB. Hope he does ok in Seattle after a nice season in Minn

Jeeeezuss. After last night's humiliating defeat, John Harbaugh, the Ravens head coach, turned into a frigging Chair Pilates instructor. Again.

"... I do believe that we need to be really thoughtful of how we decide that we're going to approach those situations going forward. Let's give it some thought. Let's give some thought to our play-calling. Let's give some thought to our defensive play-calling. Let's give some thought to our mindset like how we're going to talk to one another.

"We're two scores up.... What's our mindset on defense? How are we going to approach this? How are we going to talk to one another on the sideline to try to find a way to get the win? It becomes kind of a situation, a game scenario, that we need to be really intentional about going forward."

I like that Harbaugh. (The other one's OK too, but there are scars)

That's a brilliant, veteran professional NFL coach's answer.

Absolutely no way to counter it, or even make sense of it. It just shuts 'em up.

A great way to say, "We totally fucked it up. We'll try not to fuck it up next time. OK???"

It would be nice to hear a coach speak that baldly, but in it's way, that IS what he's saying, with a FUCK YOU somewhere in there as well.

It's not a video game out on that field, it's loosely organized madness, and unlike the rest of us, most of those actually involved in the league understand that.

Another good game tonight. A very good start to the season, with lots of good games...... hearts broken and hearts filled. There are teams looking good and teams hoping to look good, with established players and fascinating new players laying their claim.

They're all fucking amazing.

It's shaping up to be a very interesting season.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!

Ravens might need something like hypnosis? Maybe a trip to South America with Rodgers?

>>>Sucks for defenders particularly when it comes to Mahomes who has weaponized the rule on all his runs.

That's exactly why I now root against the Chiefs, along with all calls that went their way. I do like Mahomes and Andy, not sure how you can't like those guys.

GO PACK GO!!!

thumb_250907-Micah-Parsons-aa-1028-c87e8e.jpeg.......

Now that is a good day. Patriots win and SF wins with the Patriots QB.

Well, that 49ers game was a grind, which in the best circumstances it should not have been, as the Saints are not very good.

But as usual with the Niners, these days are not close to the best circumstances, with injuries messing with them at every turn.

So no complaints or nitpicks here, a win is a win. They played well when they had to and the backup QB played well when he had to.

But they need Purdy back.

Watching Mac Jones at QB today (and he did play pretty darn well) it just showed more clearly the subtle things that Purdy does at elite levels.

Purdy's greatness is not obvious like a Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or that fucking Mahomes. His calm, his quick feet, his feel of the field and his great ability to scan quickly through his progressions, buy time and find the open receiver do not dazzle or always show up on stat sheets, but they sure help win games. In those ways he reminds a bit of a 49ers quarterback I used to watch in my 20s.

They need Purdy back.

At least they have an actual kicker now, so they've got that going for them.

There is a long, LONG way to go and the 49ers have a variety of issues, but 2 - 0 is the best way to start after two games, so no complaints here.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!

I know this is really Alan's thread and we won't hear from him until after tomorrow's Ravens huge game against the Lions, but damn, the 49ers won another game that at the end I was certain they were going to lose.

They're playing without most of their best players, today losing Bosa early (for a long stretch? For the season?? Even for one game that's a HUGE loss) and everything was going against them at the end, yet they pulled out another win over another good team.

It's hours & hours later and I'm still amazed they won that game. And that's pretty fun.

Looking negatively, the injuries keep piling up and will eventually bury them. Looking positively, if/when they get their best players back they could really have something.

All offseason they've been eviscerated from every corner for letting so many veterans leave and for relying on rookies and previous backups.

Well, so far so good with those replacements.

And it's nice to have a kicker.

Troubles right, troubles left, troubles all around, but they're 3 - 0 and 2 - 0 in their tough division. And while that might mean nothing come December, it's sure a good way to make those late season games mean something.

Oh, and BTW, once again we were all reminded that Christian McCaffery is one badass football player. That dude earns every dime he makes.

KEEP GRINDING NINERS!!!!!

First, a well-rounded well-deserved round of applause to last week's game, Ravens over Browns (with the lovable ex Raven QB Joe Flaco) 41-17.

Untitled5_4.jpg

Next, a reminder that tonight's Monday Night Football features the Ravens (1-1) and the Lions (1-1).

The Ravens are playing in their "Darkness Falls" all-black outfits, so the Baltimore stadium should look like a cross between a Halloween party and a cat-burglar convention. The Ravens have some concerning injuries to starters, so some rookies have the opportunity to shine. Should be fun. 8:15 EST.

That 49ers game was as ugly as they come. They need a healthy QB. I think Jones did OK considering he could barely walk at the end. It's better to be banged up early in the season sitting at 3 - 0 than going into the playoffs, but that said I don't think Bosa will be back this year.

Bosa is out for the year.

Purdy will be back this Sunday. Not sure of Jauan's return. Kittle is out until at least game 6.

Seven sacks for the Lions. Zero for the Ravens. Basically the Ravens Offensive line was manhandled all night, as was their Defensive line. It was embarrassing.

The score, 38-30, did not reflect how much the Ravens struggled to do anything right. The Lions controlled the game throughout. Lotta blame to go around.

I predict a bunch of road rage incidents on the Baltimore Beltway tonight as super-frustrated fans drive home.

The only good thing was that Lamar did not get hurt.

Alan - keep the photos coming -

Go Niners !

Ravens on to KC. Just a brutal schedule until the bye.

Eagles Injury Rumor Would Be Disaster for Philly in Week 4 :

https://section215.com/philadelphia-eagles/

great mnf game!

gotta say, the games i have watched this season have been pretty good.

chargers 3-0 1st time in 23 years...

they have already won 2 games that in years past, they would choke.

^^ & a good placekicker, which has been their achilles heal for years.  Dicker subbed 1 game for Jake Elliott in Philly, was Special Teams POW, then won the same w/Chargers a couple weeks later^^

The only good thing was that Lamar did not get hurt>>

There is now some chatter that his many, many hits over 7 years could be taking a toll on his escapability : Michael Wilbon & others

Dang, I didn't get to see a single game :<

Stunning the Ravens are 1-2.  >please beat KC<

Bo Nix 83 passer rating. Isn't he better than that?

Seahawks have allowed 13, 17 and 13 points.

Packers lose to the Browns... WTF

Travis Kelsey is a knucklehead.

Cheerleaders aren't getting proper coverage!

It's like a show where they only played Day Job over and over again. And then a security guard took your weed. Encore: Corina. And then the car had a dead battery in the parking lot......

Ravens / Chiefs. We lose 37-20 and got whoooped.

7 starters injured/out, including Lamar, who didn't complete the game. Some of our best guys sidelined --- on an already shaky team.

hq720_1.jpg

The only good news is that the cheerleading squad has gotten a job with the local ambulance company.

maxresdefault-2328054286_0.jpg

Is there a better representation of America under Trump than the Cowboys. All glitz and glam. Playing in their gilded dome. Run by a senile old man who won't give up control, and the end result is just epic losing with the occasional tie thrown in just to keep the rubes coming back. All you have to do is look at the Cowboys and Raiders fan base to understand how we got to where we are in America today.

Anyway great week for the Patriots they at least don't suck this year but will probably get destroyed on national TV next week. And my asshole boss's Raiders lost in the most embarrassing way so other than the 49ers it was a good week.

Ravens aren't cooked, as their schedule gets easier this month, but they need a healthy Lamar and better protection for him.

Bills and Eagles are rolling.

The Commanders, not so much.
