‘Woodstock of Yacht Rock’ in Peril

Forums:

Wonder what the skinny is here. Poor sales, musicians not getting an advance?

Yacht Rock. Is that even a thing?

Save your money for the inevitable Dead & Co playing in the sand this January.

Or, get on with life.

Yacht rock is indeed a thing, just don't mention it to Donald Fagen

There is a great documentary on HBO about Yacht Rock. Highly recommend and yeah don't ask Fagen about it.

The old punk bands should have a Snacht Rock festival.

Don't even call Donald Fagen.

Have a friend in the band the Yachtsmen;

I would imagine the thing is bombing and the promoter is offering buyouts before they cancel the event.

And "yacht rock" is just another way we all look to categorize/dumb down everything into neat, simplistic little packages, usually with disparaging intent.

there was one here called Captain's Quarters, they were pretty good.

Ahead of their time?

WTF is yacht rock?

"Yacht rock (originally known as the West Coast sound or adult-oriented rock is a broad music style and aesthetic commonly associated with soft rock, one of the most commercially successful genres from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s."

It's the Jam Band from 75-85

We went to see Yachtly Crew not too long ago at our local theater venue. The show was pretty entertaining but the real show was the rookie fans in captains hats and topsiders, lol. I've never seen so many super drunk, rookie concert goers in my life. People falling down drunk in the isles. The line for a drink was impossible from the get go, and only got longer as the night progressed. Talk about chompers.... it was insane. I'd go again, but next time im sneaking in my drink and sitting in the back, ( but i usually do that anyways).

"Don't eat the brown salmon-spread!" is all I remember.

Truckin' came on on the GD Sirrius channel yesterday. I can't dance or even ride a bike that slowly without falling over.
