Carrie Nuttall-Peart and Olivia Peart, Neil’s widow and daughter share:
“We are thrilled to support the Fifty Something tour, celebrating a band whose music has resonated and inspired fans for generations, and to honor Neil’s extraordinary legacy as both a drummer and lyricist.
Neil’s musicianship was singular. Compositions of intricacy and power that expanded what rhythm itself could express. As both drummer and lyricist, he was irreplaceable. Inimitable in his artistry, and unmatched in the depth and imagination he brought to the lyrics that inspired and moved so many, he profoundly shaped how fans connected with him and the band, giving voice and meaning to their own lives.
As the band enters this new chapter, it promises to be truly unforgettable. We are excited to see how their new vision unfolds, and to hear this legendary music played live once again.”
I'll be seeing my second Dream Theater show with Portnoy in a few weeks, I'm sure this will be a frequent topic covered in the audience pre show chatter...
im really looking forward to this. It's time and the music and brotherhood need to live on... I always enjoyed Rush, saw them a few times but honestly, the idea of their friendship and who they are as people has made me a huge fan of theirs in recent years. Adding in a keyboard and probably others will separate this legacy from that which came before it and will likely translate into a tremendous outing for fans.
My first big arena Rock concert was Rush at the Capital Centre on the Moving Pictures tour. It would be cool to see them again, but it will take some travelling. As they have extended their stays in already announced venues, this looks like the tour map. They do have the first half of July open, but otherwise, the tour is booked.
This was the Setlist for the Moving Pictures tour:
“2112” – (Overture/The Temples Of Syrinx)
“Freewill”
“Limelight”
“Cygnus-X1: Book II: Hemispheres” (Prelude)
“Beneath, Between And Behind”
“The Camera Eye”
“YYZ”
Drum Solo
“YYZ”
“Broon’s Bane”
“The Trees”
“Xanadu”
“The Spirit Of Radio”
“Red Barchetta”
“Closer To The Heart”
“Tom Sawyer”
“Vital Signs”
“Natural Science”
“Working Man”
“Cygnus-X1: Book II: Hemispheres” (Armageddon)
“By-Tor And The Snow Dog”
“In The End”
“In The Mood”
“2112” (Grand Finale)
I saw them in mid 80s(84 I think?) and again in 2010. They did full Moving Pictures at that show... I wasn't always a big fan but their music has been side by side with me all my life and I actually have really come to appreciate it and upon recent listening, I'd forgotten how much. It means more to me then I often gave it credit for. I also have really grown to like them as people, their interviews are so down to earth and real, no pretense whatsoever.
My brother and I are looking at all 4 TO shows, can't wait, I'd imagine they will make this count and adding a keyboard, this drummer and probably others will really set this apart but still honor the legacy and capture the magic that Rush always seemed to bring.
I only saw them once as a teenager in the late 70's. My parents drove me and two of my friends to the show in Providence which was a couple of hours away. They dropped us off at the show where we dropped. We were supposed to stay at my sisters that night who had a house in Providence, but for some unknown reason my parents decided to drive home instead and told us that decision as we got into the car after the show. So there we were three very altered teenagers in the back seat of the Volvo with my parents looking at two hour drive.
No spot taken here. Over the years I saw Rush many times, first as a patron in '84, then working a bunch of their shows, then again as a patron in 2011. Always impressive, always tight, but always just a little too tight for me.
Ultimately, Rush is another like Led Zeppelin who I completely admire and acknowledge their greatness but just don't care for.
At their age and standing I get the mini-residency's, but I'm a little surprised they're not just posting up at the Sphere in Vegas. They seem like the perfect act for that place.
Looks like they left lots of space for extra dates if these are hot sellers. The Vancouver date should keep Seattle from being overrun by Canucks, although we'll probably see a lot of Portland visitors.
I wonder if Hall is excited about this tour, as he used to post regularly about Rush on the old Zone?
I'm in for DC, on this new batch, possibly Montreal...DC is same day as marine corps marathon, I run it every year and will be in town for it... and Mohegan Sun? What's that like 8,000 seats? Maybe a hot ticket
Hard Rock Live in Hollywood. Fl. 7000 seats. I will hit Tampa unless I get a cheap seat in Hollywood.
Nice seeing it all end in Cleveland, the City that broke them out. Seen the 2112 tour at Cleveland Public Hall.
No they actually mentioned about 35 song rotation so they can play 2.5 hr show and rotate a few and get a few deeper cuts in there they want to play. But I'm sure it will be many war horses too. I won't hold my breath for Fountain of Lamneth but I'm guessing YYZ a shoe in at least for TO. I'd also guess a few other instrumentals spread out to give geds vocals a break each night. La Villa, Overture, etc
Seems like the whole ticket demand thing is over-inflated (sound familiar?). Sure it's been 10+ years, but the demand on the last tour with Peart in 2015 wasn't anything compared to today.
People who are shelling out $800 for nosebleeds right now are going to eat crow in a year when those same seats will be worth $100 or less in most cities.
