Yellowstone Bison Attack

Forums:

Just got home from a three week road trip out to the Dakotas and back.   North Cascades NP, Glacier NP, Teddy Roosevely NP, Badlands, NP, the Black Hills, Devil's Tower, the Bighorn Mountains, and finally Yellowstone NP, before finishing uo in Bend for Widespread Panic.    In Yellowstone, we stayed at Bridge Bay Campground where there was a big resident bull bison who would nonchalantly wander around the campground.  Our dog Porter and my brother's dog Tuco absolutely flipped out when it walked by our campsite.   Porter isn't much of a barker, but he was making wild sounds we have never heard before.   I guess the dogs sensed he might be trouble, even though a couple workers at the campground said:  "Oh, he is harmless" and the big guy was just hanging around minding its own business:

When we got home this weekend and checked the news, saw that the same bull bison had gotten pissed off about something and knocked a dude eight feet in the air.   The video went viral but here is a news story with the footage in case you haven't seen it:

It looks like from the video this happened at the very same part of the campground where we had been staying (might even be the same campsite).   And the people who got chased weren't doing anything to incite the bull and were standing pretty far away (we were closer to it several times).    We also saw a ranger shoot a grizzly bear with a flash bang right outside the campground as we were leaving.

Woohoo! Yellowstone has "free rides" now.

Grab life by the horns.

Grandpa caught some air, but it sounds like he's going to be okay. His grandkid got out of harm's way somehow.
