Seeking Foosball Table Advice

Forums:

I'm planning on ordering a Foosball Table this summer and was hoping some of you Zoners who play could give me some pointers in terms of different manufacturers.  Specifically, I am leaning towards a Tornado table but am now wondering about the Warrior and Atomic tables.  They appear to have good reviews and are much lower in price.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I am not even sure of the name of the old butcher block one I had in our dinning room when my kids were growing up. I just looked for something heavy so it wouldn't  move when slamming the rods side to side. Also wanted to be very sturdy so the legs wouldn't weaken from all the heavy leaning. Wish we never got rid of it, but a real dining room table eventually won out for the space

I'm with Fabes. I had one 25 years ago. It's got to take some serious abuse. I like the ones with ONE goalie instead of three, and slight pitch in the corners. I think the rods should spin freely (even though a good player will not spin them). Also look for one where you could obtain replacement players if need be. They break sometimes.

no spinning allowed

I'd go second hand used. Wait for a good one to turn up. The one i learned to play on was french and vintage, that thing took some abuse.

I'm keeping my eyes open on Craigslist and the Want Ad Digest (Albany area) as these are definitely great used items to consider.  I was hoping to get some feedback on table makers as far as durability, action, etc.  I'm not a "spinner" but not a serious player either.  More of just anohter fun thing to do with friends when they come over to hang out.

I'd go with bubble hockey

That will be next!

No spinning was a joke. Years ago we would have tourneys at parties and the more serious players got very upset about spinning.

I have seen a few bumper pool tables for free, tempting, we prefer foosball and have a middle quality table that has held up well.

I still like the old puck drop, metal (ok, or even plastic) players, with the similar metal bars as fooz . The game that came out in 60 s , id imagine. I do like my foosball (yes, spinning should lead to waterboarding), but Hounders post reminded me of those endless hours playing those hockey games.

I started out w a mettallic set...players vaguely looking like Canadians vs Maple Leafs.  Five or six years later, i had a plastic set, complete w auto matic puck drop (you "dropped" it via the overhung "electronic" scoreboard. It came equipped w clear plastic pieces for above the boards, and the scoreboard contraption clipped onto those on each side. I had a Red Wing Vs Blackhawk set, as i was a diehard Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and Chicago fan. The metal sets were much better , as you could bend your favorite players stick, and set yourself up with a slap shot that could take out a friends eye. Especially if combined w puck from plastic set that came w lil marble roller built in....you could def get some "lift" w a good metal stick...lol

Hhhhmmmm, i think i gotta go online and find me one of those old ones....good luck w foosball table Rob, and thanks for inspiration....

Gunnerutah is on the money on one goalie imo, also the tilted corners are

nice so there are no dead balls stuck in the corners but not a deal breaker

This.   We had a foosball table at my old crazy fraternity house and we did some serious foosing.  Players were breaking left and right and we were constantly ordering new pieces.  And yes, one goalie and NO SPINNING ALLOWED.

If your patient, I suggest watching Criags list for these. I have come across many over the years while trolling garage sales, they practically give them away to get them out of the house.

Absolutely nothing less than a bar quality Tornado table. It will be hard to find a table of that caliber with a one man goalie like the old American tables..

The heavier the table the better. I am talking quality to handle the force of a long strong pull or push shot.

I played a Bonzini table once. I believe they are made in France, but they have distributors in the states. By far the best table I ever played on. They make home and commercial models. There is nothing else like them.

I was a spinning fool...shame

If you scored on the spin shot that point will be taken away, sorry.

no spinning
