And it's beautiful!
Scientists discover the 'beautiful' secret of how memories are made
Scientists have discovered the secret of how memories are made - the brain makes two copies of every event, in a discovery they described as “beautiful”.
Researchers said even they were surprised when they realised the secret of how recollections are created and stored.
They found that the brain “doubles up" by simultaneously making two memories of events.
One is for the present and the second is for the long-term, they found.
It had been thought that all memories start as a short-term memory and are then slowly converted into a lifetime version.
Experts said the findings from MIT in the US and a team from Japan were “beautiful and convincing”.
Two parts of the brain are involved in collecting and storing personal experiences.
The hippocampus collects short-term memories while the cortex retains long-term memories.
That discovery was made in the 1950s after the case of man whose hippocampus was damaged as a result of epilepsy surgery.

The science on climate change
The science on climate change: "Human activities are changing Earth's climate. At the global level, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping greenhouse gases have increased sharply since the Industrial Revolution. Fossil fuel burning dominates this increase."

Very interesting, Thom. Brains and memory are things that I think about.
You must trust the magazine Science to cite and link it here. I don't know your feelings about climate change, but my sister's work on carbon fluxes in soils is featured in the 31 March, '17 issue, the one before the one you cited. This is the cover of the issue in which her work appeared, including being featured on the cover.

My thoughts (not feelings) on
My thoughts (not feelings) on climate change (in no particular order)....
It is happening
It has always happened
We have no way of knowing how much anthropomorphic activities are responsible
That it will not be the end of the world
That it has been highly politicized
That it is being used as as excuse for increased government control by the left
That the pro side has hidden evidence that refutes their theories
That climate models used by scientists are unreliable (too many unknown factors involved)
That the current models used can not even come up with the current climate conditions, much less the future ones.
That there is no way to de-industrialize without returning to a 17th century economy
That humans are responsible for less than 5% of CO2 emissions
That even if we were able to cut that amount in half (we aren't) it wouldn't have much of an effect on the outcome
That this being true, if things are as bad and dire as the pro side says they are there is nothing substantial that we can do about it
That things are not as bad or dire as the pro side says they are
That science (driven by democratic capitalist societies) will have solutions
That life will go on
Hope that clears it up. And no, I'm not coming back here to debate the issue. I'll leave that to you guys. You asked, I answered.
Post about memory, talk about climate change. Gotta love the Zone.

its part of the bigger story, about nibiru, alien disclosure, and the impending tidal wave of galactic energy hitting the solar system, which will cause rapid paradigm shift, and the globalists will lose the power and control they have..

Why I don't trust "experts" on climate change.....
From killer diesel fumes to ruinous floods, every green initiative imposed on us by politicians has ended in disaster... and this is the great folly of our age
His light-bulb moment came when he learned that diesel emits less CO2 than petrol. What a brilliant way it would be to save the planet, he thought, to manipulate the tax system to encourage motorists to make the switch — which millions did.
And here we are 15 years later, being told that, as an unexpected side-effect, more than ten million diesel vehicles on Britain’s roads are chucking out so much nitrogen oxide and other toxic pollutants they are being linked to 12,000 premature deaths a year.
This is only the latest in a seemingly endless flow of examples of supposedly ‘green’ government schemes which, one after another, turn out to have been standing common sense on its head, at a cost which is rocketing up by billions of pounds a year.

Three senior House Democrats asked U.S. teachers Monday to destroy a book written by climate scientists challenging the environmentalist view of global warming.
The Democrats were responding to a campaign by the conservative Heartland Institute copies of the 2015 book, “Why Climate Scientists Disagree About Global Warming” to about 200,000 science teachers. Democratic Reps. Bobby Scott of the Committee on Education, Raúl M. Grijalva of the Committee on Natural Resources, and Eddie Bernice Johnson of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology all issued a statement telling teachers to trash the book.
“Public school classrooms are no place for anti-science propaganda, and I encourage every teacher to toss these materials in the recycling bin,” Scott said. “If the Heartland Institute and other climate deniers want to push a false agenda on global warming, our nation’s schools are an inappropriate place to drive that agenda.”

Like Stalinist everywhere, the pro side wants to shut down all debate. Thus the "Denier" label that is purposefully employed to harken up memories of the holocaust and make people who question the science behind climate change as eqivilent to Nazis.

So who are the “anti-science”
And in support of my contention that , regardless of the merits of the issue, for the left this is simply another opportunity for a power grab...
So who are the “anti-science” authors of a book that dares to tell the truth about government-funded global warming alarmism?
The book’s three authors all hold doctorates and taught climate or related science at the university level. The book was written by former Arizona State University climatologist Dr. Craig D. Idso, James Cook University marine geology and paleontology professor Robert M. Carter, and University of Virginia environmental scientist Dr. Fred Singer.
When it comes to the Earth’s climate, Democratic Congressmen Scott, Grijalva and Johnson are entirely ignorant. But what they do know is that the whole point of global warming hysteria is to give the government more power over the economy. That, they are in favor of! The excuse is mostly irrelevant.
Why do you think our federal government has funded global warming alarmism to the tune of $40 billion? It is all about power and money. And if you blow the whistle on the liberals’ scam, your book should be thrown in the trash! We wouldn’t want America’s students to get a balanced view of the facts relating to climate, not when so much money is at stake.

As someone who spent quite a considerable amount of time Planning for Climate Change/Sea Level Rise, it's pretty Indisputable that human caused climate change is as real as it gets. In fact, the climate change we've already experienced is the result of gases emitted in the late 1800's/early 1900's. We have not even experienced the climate change as a result of the last 50 - 100 years. It'll be a real Doozy. Here's NASA's take, but oh yeah, they Faked the Moon Landings lol:
