Trump sends aircraft carrier to North Korea

America first

reports there will be 3 there next week it seems, with china and russia "shadowing" them i guess.

whatever.

We were invited aboard the Carl Vinson  as 'family" by some sailor my sister befriended when it was at port in Norfolk during the '82 Scope GD shows (or '83 Hampton can't remember). The deck where they stored the planes could host a football game...

DERP!

Can we spin this and claim that we tricked the World into believing that we actually did have ships off the coast of North Korea?

In that case: WE WIN!!!

>> In that case: WE WIN!!!

Unless they start shelling Seoul.

Ned, did you read the article?

I'm trying to figure out if this story is hilarious or...sad:

"The problem was, the carrier, the Carl Vinson, and the four other warships in its strike force were at that very moment sailing in the opposite direction, to take part in joint exercises with the Australian Navy in the Indian Ocean, 3,500 miles southwest of the Korean Peninsula.

White House officials said on Tuesday they were relying on guidance from the Defense Department. Officials there described a glitch-ridden sequence of events, from a premature announcement of the deployment by the military’s Pacific Command to an erroneous explanation by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis — all of which perpetuated the false narrative that an American armada was racing toward the waters off North Korea.

....

The saga of the wayward carrier might never have come to light, had the Navy not posted a photograph on Monday of the Carl Vinson sailing through the Sunda Strait, which separates the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra. The picture was taken on Saturday, four days after the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, described its mission in the Sea of Japan...

So, are they REALLY that inept, or were they bluffing?  (I think that I know the answer)  Unbelievable.

Senior admin official blames miscommunication for mix-up over whereabouts of USS Carl Vinson which admin had said was headed to Sea of Japan.

The Keystone Cops were funny, the Trump admin not so much.

My grandparents were both in the Navy. ww2 south pacific. Nation goes as navy does.  Portable launch platforms for missiles and jets work for protection.

BUT, this shit is good for no one. Flexing muscles shows little prick. His base did not want us to be world police.  How do they feel now? I would ask what they "think" now but...

Unless you like the idea of a glass highway from DC to New York, this was a bad bad move.

Straight to a triple-dog-dare will not work.

Lords help us

very fishy.  We are probably there. But escalation like sending Pence to DMZ, stating  "No more mr. nice guys", sending our latest jets to europe in a very loud way, meeting with the leader of China, and *maybe* sending carriers to the area are all adding fuel to the crazy fire that is North Korea.

"Americaaaa, Fuck yeah!"  (you know the song)

I welcome the radioactive fallout landing on me borne by the wind from nuclear explosions in Korea, no matter who set them off -

NOT!!!

As several of my respected fellow zoners have noted:

The carrier group sailed in the wrong direction, thus presumably the orders were apparently not given or somewhat garbled in translation.

Or maybe somebody in the White House thought North Korea was next to Australia.

How about a good ole fashion coup?   You would think that there are enough generals and other insiders who would love to kill that crazy Kim kid, make peace with the US and South Korea, and start reaping the benefits of having sanctions lifted.

N. Korea isn't even real. It's a boogeyman the government uses as part of its big plan. Think about it, who the hell has even BEEN to N. korea? Nobody, that's who.

Remember when we tricked them into believing Dennis Rodman was Barrack Obama?

It must be noted in this thread that Jerry Garcia played on the

USS Carl Vinson with the Garcia Band in 1987.

Funny stuff here.

Trump KOTW.jpg

Ooops, shoulda shrunk that a bit. Sorry.

Starting to wonder if perhaps Trump did order the aircraft carrier to North Korea  and the Generals said, OK SIR, and then planned the detour to prevent WW3. 'the Generals are in charge', according to Trump, and as odd as it sounds we're all probably better off than if Trump really knew that he was Commander in Chief. Trump's only concern is enriching himself and his cronies..oh, and chocolate, cake!

Tons of Lies ! Surfacing ! Trump>Spicer = Full O C !!!

They Don't Know What The Navy Does - thank god.

Trump is letting the Generals move their pieces as they wish!
