DJ Easy> love that you mentioned Art Blakey. Off and on I've tried to find a performance I attended of Art w/ the Jazz Messengers in the mid-80s in Reims, France. Have never found a reference, but did find some cool jazz history sites by tapers.
Art always invited new artists into his lineups.....always wondered if that inspired Phil for PL&F lineups....
