Are you thinking of the one in Sayreville on Rt. 9 just before the parkway entrance Voodoo? If so, it's still there. Used to be a regular stop for munchies on the way home from shows @ the Meadowlands & MSG. Had to make a U turn, but never passed it up. Can't do it anymore though.

Ha, just about anything is. We do have more options now than just McD's & White Castle on the East Coast though inc. Five Guys. Smash Burger's pretty good too. Wouldn't mind if Jack in the Box or In-N-Out would move east though.

i was in grammar school when
i was in grammar school when the castle opened up by us on 92nd and 4th in bay ridge probably around 1964 / 1965
prices were way low - 8, 10 , 12, 15 cents for the food and drinks ???
it was a big castle on a big old used car lot
they used to have drive up with transmitters for your order and delivery to your car in the beginning
as i got older it was a place to meet up and hang out on cold nights
it was the place to hang
it was open all the time and only closed on christmas eve / day
it was a place to stop late at night after going out drinking (not a good idea)
now it is an office building

Krystal in the south, still a couple in town. I avoid but give in about once a year.
Had White Castle in NJ late Seventies, early eighties...seems like we hit one on Rt. 1 in the Rahway area post gigs.
Of that ilk I think the "best" is Royal Castle. My wife's dad managed a few in South Florida.
She collects the dishes, they used real plates, mugs, and flatware. Pricey on ebay.
We hit the last one of the official Royal Castles in Miami still owned by a guy who worked with her dad. Nice folks who we also met up with in DC when they came up for the second Obama inaugural.
I know, fascinating right?

That one's still there too. Not an expert on White Castles (no, really), it's about 15 mins. up Rt. 1 from where I work. I pass it now & then depending on where I'm heading after work.

Still have three White Castle's fairly close..On Northern Blvd. and 87th st. or so in Jackson Heights if I'm visiting my parents and one on Bell and Northern in Bayside, if I'm on the Cross Island or the Clearview and I get a craving..The one further East on 110 I've never even been to but I kid you not my father in law goes every Wednesday..Still eat a minimum of 4 right out of the bag on the ride home, the next day I feel like I've been out partying all night though ..only get them two or three times a year max..
