I jumped on a pair of tickets yesterday while waiting to take off at O'Hare. Can't say I've ever been to a 4 1/2 hour movie. The Fare Thee Well screening was probably that long, but it had a built-in intermission. Wonder if they will have one for this movie? Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing this!
I saw the Premier at the Castro Theater in SF with the Q&A by the Director, Dennis McNally, and several others.
Flick was fascinating, kind of unbalanced and way too long.
It's also great for knowledgeable innies but may bore the pants of casual fans.
Best things in it: many perspectives and anecdotes from Sam Cutler and Steve Silverman and all the live footage and home movies.
There is one thread that gets way too much time in the movie and it's presence raises the question of why the Director gave no attention to some of the other women in Jerry's life.
I have a ticket for Sunday in Mill Valley followed by a Kimock Band show at Sweetwater.
