Most of the bands mentioned above don't exist anymore. And including Bob Jovi and White Lionis just silly. This is supposed to be great first generation R&R bands, not hair bands from the 80's. Same for Madonna, Springsteen and U2. Like them or not they don't fit the definition of what the original Desert Trip was all about. CSN&Y will never play together again unless big $$$$$ can overcome a lot of personal animosity (and it just might). Jimmy Buffet??????? Now you're just getting desperate.
>>>>CSN&Y will never play together again unless big $$$$$ can overcome a lot of personal animosity (and it just might).
One of them was just suggesting their mutual dislike of the current US president may get them back together. Wonder if that is code for $$$$$? However, last time I saw them in 2014, Stills was burnt and couldn't even sing.
As for 80s hair bands, there is always the annual Rocklahoma festival:
Musician Graham Nash has been very vocal in the last two years about his anger with bandmate David Crosby over a series of personal clashes, so much so that fans of 1960s supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had all but given up hope of a reunion. However, Nash now says that an even greater disdain for President Donald Trump and the current administration could change that.
“Here’s how I feel about it: I believe that the issues that are keeping us apart pale in comparison to the good that we can do if we get out there and start talking about what’s happening,” Nash says of a possible CSNY reunion. “So I’d be totally up for it even though I’m not talking to David and neither is Neil. But I think that we’re smart people in the end and I think we realize the good that we can do.”
20 million people tried to get tix for Zeppelin's one off 2007 reunion show in London. Made the Guinness World Records for "Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert." If the Zeppelin is on the bill, there would be no need for any other acts.
have you ever seen Jimmy Buffett? It's a very happy vibe , great tunes an a lot of fun. May not be appropriate for most in this setting but it works for me.
This Pop festie that Panic played at last weekend had a lot of Crappy bands I didn't know still existed - Loverboy, Night Ranger, Christopher Cross, Ambrosia? I couldn't imagine going to something this Awful:
It also may not be the best place for aging rock singers to perform. Both Mick and Roger Daltrey complained of the dust and heat affecting their voices (esp. Mick - he ended up with laryngitis).
I also found it too hot during the day. Was a little cooked by showtime.
The dust was bad. You really do need to wear a bandana over your nose and mouth (like many of the workers did), which is hard when you want to talk or eat or drink or smoke... or sing on stage.
I stayed at a hotel nearby and came over late in the day, so the heat was less an issue for me. The temperature dropped quickly when the sun went down. I would guess the performers did not camp on site.
