Just saw him play with Temple Of The Dog at The Tower Theater in Philly in November. What a great fucking show, I was blown away and really enjoyed the concert.
Andrew Wood, Stefanie Sargent, Mia Zapata, Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland, Chris Cornell...all gone too soon. Cornell and Jerry Garcia each made it to 52. Still too damn soon.
Mark Lanegan, Eddie Vedder, Mark Arm, Jennifer Finch, Tad Doyle, Kim Wernick, Kathleen Hanna and a few others, still carrying the torch.
The last song Chris Cornell sang Wednesday night at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.was Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying."
Reminds me of Colonel Bruce Hampton who sang "I am Basically Frightened, "Feel Like I"m Fixin' to Die,:" and then "Turn On Your Lovelight," before he laid down on stage.
Very sad about this news. I was living in Seattle during the birth of grunge. I use to get passes to a lot of grunge shows as part of my job -- doing outreach on the Bill of Rights for the ACLU, and we engaged the grunge community to speak out for the 1st Amendment. Chris was one of tje musicians who would support our work with donations and by appearing at press events.
Seattle seems a little stunned today. KEXP is playing nothing but his music and is hosting an impromptu public gathering/memorial at 5 p.m. today at their gathering space down by the Space Needle.
My sympathies to you. On the Soundgarden thread a few back you stated you worked for the band very early on. I'm guessing this has had quite an impact on your day. Peace to you and all who knew and loved him.
>>>A friend of mine, two years younger than I, just had a stroke!
that sucks I'm sorry to hear that. Miss Bucky Badger has a cousin who was 49 who had a stroke. The doctor said that the people who have strokes at that young of an age is due to being a meth head. Scary when you don't know this about them.

Awwwww man, this really sucks. He was BY FAR THE MOST TALENTED Singer/songwriter to come out of the 'Grunge" scene, BY FAR.
I REALLY hope it's not suicide. geez. guy had a ton to LIVE for. I will hold out hope that it's natural causes.
And yes Jerry was 53.
Damn, as I rapidly approach this age demo, it really is scary watching people fall.
