Newtonian Physics is Oppressive to Marginalized People

Forums:

We have truly entered the era of leftist lunacy.  Sometimes I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

A feminist scholar has published a paper claiming that Newtonian physics is oppressive and that we must use “quantum feminisms” to make the science more intersectional. In a paper for The Minnesota Review, culture and gender-studies researcher Whitney Stark argues that Newton’s understanding of physics is oppressive because it has “separated beings” based on their “binary and absolute differences” — a structure that she calls “hierarchical and exploitative” — and the same kind of system is “embedded in many structures of classification,” making it “part of the apparatus that enables oppression.”

Oh, and you should totally cry.

So is "family feud"

"Please note this article has been Emended..."

Totally credible and legit source, that.

Lulz

Whenever I see a post linked by Thom, I just remember the day he unapologetically linked to a racially-charged biographical page on Martin Luther King, Jr. which was sponsored and authored by Stormfront.

Keep at it.

I remember a lot of very fascinating damn fine respectful musical experience posts.

Don't think Thom gives a shit what most think  about his posts.

Dude is consistent.

Poor Thom.

>> I remember

Name one.

I named the time that Thom posted an American Nazi website's bio of MLK Jr.

Name that time that Thom posted the music thing. Just the first one that comes to mind for you.

>>>>don't know if I should laugh or cry

No one is going to understand your point if you are talking about this story while laughing so I agree that you should cry. It tells people you are upset which I'm pretty sure you are.

hope that helps and yeah that chick is crazy with the science for sure

You are a tit! I have read and respect his posts and reviews on his many Grateful Dead concert experiences.

Play with your nipple, titty boy.

Stop trying so hard to boost your little ego with your nonsensical Howard Cosellish(sp) encyclopedia of useless music information.

I get it! You are an eclectic music buff. Stop trying so hard, little buddy. You will not be so uptight.

I really do not think you have to prove that you know more than the average zoner on diversificational music knowledge.

We get it, Bro.  Calm down . You wont be so bitter.

>> I have read and respect his posts and reviews on his many Grateful Dead concert experiences.

Name one. I'm not getting personal, like you are. I'm citing a fact. Thom posted a bio of MLK Jr that was created by Stormfront.

Name one of those music things. If you can't remember, just say you can't remember. Don't start to get all agitated and attack me.

Or just admit you're wrong. Wouldn't be the first time you were wrong here, but it might be the first time you admitted it.

Oh shit you guys are in this thread too - I can see why you had that idea to consolidate now

See, alright I had this idea, it can be like a thread and he can post pictures of his fence and shit and say like it's a picket fence when actually it's a stockade fence, shit like that. Just like a light, like... a little scene, you know.

He could post pictures of homemade pipes where you smoke the pipe but you're also melting the metal down. This kind of thing.

I could see that

Aixte, my point is I really doubt he give a shit what you post like most do here.

You have a very serious complex going on about proving your points.

Take 'er easy little feller it will be easier.

Right, and my point is, take a link posted by Thom with a grain of salt, because I can cite that time he posted a link to the Stormfront website.

You can try to make a point, but unless you back it up, it's just you saying shit, or being wrong, or taking a personal swipe at someone. In this instance it's like a nice balance of those three things.

This isn't about chick scientists at all any more

Gonna call it the "Remedial Learners' Thread" I think. Possibly apply for nonprofit status.

Agree

I would have hoped that this was another hoax like the infamous Sokal affair

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_affair

but alas we have past the point of parody and reached the critical mass of societal insanity.  When reality doesn't comply with the left's assumptions, it isn't the assumptions that are reconsidered.

I have realized for decades that progressive leftism was nothing more than a political attempt to deny reality, but I always assumed basic the laws of physics were immune to this inanity.  Apparently not.

Thom,

RUSSIA!

Leftism!  lol.

Thom -- climate change denial, Sandy Hook was a hoax, Hillary fixed the election...etc...

If you cite Wikipedia then you shouldn't be anywhere near a college campus.

If by "leftists" Thom means the Bernie supporters who refused to vote for Clinton because she wasn't enough of a leftist...

...then yes, the leftists are even stupider than the Trump voters.

>>>  If you cite Wikipedia then you shouldn't be anywhere near a college campus.

He's not citing it as an authoritative source, he's simply using it to identify something that happened.

I'll defend Thom on this one.

until the time when we can stop calling each other names and not get sucked into the black/white, good/bad, right/left bullshit, nothing will ever change.

intellectual laziness at its finest.

but go ahead and keep reading your propaganda. just don't think its real good for your blood pressure, old chap.

Saying Thom never discusses music is, in itself, intellectually lazy.

Ironic.

i never said that.

That was for atiex, turts.

sorry, was being lazy.

I've read many music posts from thom. But I don't have them saved anywhere.  I suppose you could call that lazy

Schrödinger's cat

"Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects. The scenario presents a cat that may be simultaneously both alive and dead, a state known as a quantum superposition, as a result of being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur. The thought experiment is also often featured in theoretical discussions of the interpretations of quantum mechanics. Schrödinger coined the term Verschränkung (entanglement) in the course of developing the thought experiment."

>>>>>>Saying Thom never discusses music is, in itself, intellectually lazy.

Ateix didn't say that either.  He just asked for specifics of Jazzfishs many memories of Thoms musical musings.

I thought it was a joke/parody post from the thread title.

Of course, if it is 'real' no one will ever take (seriously) the author of that paper.

It is funny to read the spastic reactions of some posters who(m) never even slept through a University-level Physics 101 class.

Please keep in mind that every single iteration of theoretical Physics has only been 'Theory' with some lab experiments to produce naughty stuff.

The +/- particle diatribe evolved into particle/wave stuff, and then  weirder approaches.

But the main benefit to society has been Humongous piles of nuclear waste, impossible to clean up in many generations.

It's all such a shell-game.

However,  my long-standing offer to buy Lunch for Thom2 and myself is still good.  It would be great fun to trade Providence tales over Cheese-Steaks, Crab and Fava Beans, with a nice Chianti.

>> He just asked for specifics of Jazzfishs many memories of Thoms musical musings. <<

Well, I can't speak for jazfish, but I can think of several posts from Thom relating to music.

Cool. Wasn't asking you, though, Ned.

Remember that time Thom posted a link to Stormfront, though? I do.

That doesn't negate your insinuation that he hasn't. When you came at jaz with "name one", is a response from someone else any less valid or credible? Or, are you setting him up for some other critique?

Keep at it.

Atex,

Have you taken a High-School or College Physics class ever ?

Share your thoughts with the VLZ regarding modern interpretations of Newton's principles, please.

are "conservatives" naturally angry unhappy people?

We should have all followed nick's example and started folders long ago

>> are "conservatives" naturally angry unhappy people?

I see just as many angry leftys. Plenty of nasty on both sides of the chasm.

You're saying that I'm insinuating that Thom hasn't discussed his Grateful Dead experience at length, Ned? I know the dude has prattled on and on about trading love letters with Dick Latvala and all that.

The only insinuation that I suggested was that Thom has a bad track record with posting disreputable sources of information, and that that's what comes to mind first for me.

If his diary entries on 80s Dead shows are more important to you than the fact that he literally cited Stormfront.org for information on Martin Luther King Jr... Lol. I got nothin'.

>> modern interpretations

Sorry I'm only familiar with the postmodern interpretations.

>I see just as many angry leftys.<

if your naysay ned...

ateix: this is a dbmb....relax.

I swear to god these millennials wear their clothes too tightly.

There you go, now you're sounding more like Jazfish.

Thoms musings about music are just that, musings.  No better or worse than anyone else's opinions. He knows some stuff about GD music but not everything. IMO his constant "bait n dash" style and linking of questionable sources negates any good he might bring via music chat.

As far as Newtonian Physics, the only thing Thoms knows of that is when that big golden apple fell in his lap. The OP is just shit-stirring.  IMO.

signed,  a leftist (whatever that is)

((( Gold & Apple Transfers )))

(((( Erisian Liberation Front ))))

Fuggin angry fellows are funny.

It's a beautiful first day of June and I just got ahold of a lot of first pressing jazz records in great shape. Blue Note, Pacific, Prestige, all originals.

Who has time to be angry. Lol.

Now stupid people, that's a whole other dealio.

I clean fools.

Like, for real.

Stark wasn't even discussing physics, but rather how people think about the social sciences.

Typical NR, too busy being triggered  to even comprehend what they're reading.

People judging people, just to snark their hate...

Good with Trump and related shitshow, but panties bunched by an article in The Minnesota Review.

Classic Thom.

Thool

What a hoot.

"...This structural thinking of individualized separatism with binary and absolute differences as the basis for how the universe works seeped into/poured over/ is embedded in many structures of classification, which understand similarity and difference in the world, imposed in many hierarchical and exploitative organizational structures, whether through gender, life/nonlife, national borders, and so on..."

I sort of have to agree with whatever the fuck the author is attempting to convey,  just because this line of semantics derives from a similar abyss coinciding with some University term papers which I wrote while drunk and sleep-deprived.

However,  my "B+" grade would not have happened if I closed a babbling, incoherent paragraph with "and so on".

>Share your thoughts with the VLZ regarding modern interpretations of Newton's principles, please.

The Fist Law of Motion, or the law of Inertia states, that every dog in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

According to The Second Law of Motion, acceleration is produced when a force acts on a dog. The greater the dog, the greater the amount of force required. Force equals dog times acceleration.

The Third Law of Motion states that for every force, there is a reaction force that is equal in size, but opposite in direction. Therefore, whenever one dog pushes another dog, it gets pushed in the opposite direction equally as hard.

^ oppressive to dogs errywhere

Maybe the key tie that binds is the apple. Just a thought that some may perceive. Coming from a simpleton, of course.

Oh yeah, damn fine zoning ,Thom.

>damn fine zoning ,Thom

Huh?  It's just more inane drivel from Thom. But at least he is not defending white nationalists, or defending Trump's criminal administration, again.

Habla blah blah blah?
