Loving Mayer in this band, he rips it! Bob sounds great as do the drummers. The music misses Phil but Otiel does an admirable job. Jeff sounds great. We're lucky to have this band raging in 2017!

I'm looking forward to seeing them again.  Outdoors.

That band and crowd are sure having a delightful time.

Hi Noodler.  Nugs is streaming this show again so I am hoping  we can  get a NNJimmy  live Video stream.

Whats up Woz. And Yup I agree. JM and the rest are in a groove.

Hi Doc. I am still here.  And yes the Distinguished Leader  here is quite remarkable. I learned long ago that over here foreigners should never discuss religion or politics.  You just never know where you will wind up if you do so in the wrong company.

How are you bro?    Thinking about you along your long and winding road to better health.

In my Glory right now. 3rd mug of Coffee. Watching brutal Yankee "pile on" against Baltimore and a free High Quality stream.  Tough for me to be in a better place on a Sunday morning.

Band having a lot of fun tonight.

Doing great life is grand and I'm keeping on keeping on !

I predict china>rider for set 2 opener.

Glad to hear it Doc. I know "music is your life"  but are you getting out to see any live music these days?

I predict china>rider for set 2 opener.>>>>>

Good Call.

I am not a huge advocate of the following but this band does like to flip it upside down. So....I call Saturday night to open set II.

no Wait...I am changing my call to Help on the way> Saturday ngiht

No I mean help> Franklins> Saturday night

Encore:

One More Saturday Night

Smokestack followed by Spoonful is just an awful, and lazy choice in setlist making.

They should hire Jill to make their setlists.

Caught a lot of the 2nd set and liked what I heard.

Had to go outside towards the end of Dark Star and add some ATF & 1/2 quart of oil to the truck,  but I put a speaker in the open window so I didn't miss too much.

I'm due for an oil change and have the right filter and some 10-W30,  but I'll actually save some $$ taking it for the $20 oil change.

Thanks again for the Mixlr stream !! Sounds nice.

Do you take a sedative and a pain killer before the procedure?

No KK --

It is relatively painless.  The 'STS' has a waiting room with Free (but cheap) coffee, and I can sit there with Hüsky and read Fishing magazines from 2004.

I read out loud to H.I.M. and make splashy sounds to emphasize the high points of the narrative.

The other customers don't seeem to mind, and they always get me on my way pretty quick.

It's not like California though; no puffing Thin Havana while you wait.

Dude, free is always cheap but  you wind up paying big time because when it comes to  lubrication you get what you pay for. Same thing when ot comes to chainsaws.

I agree with you 100%.

This is why I'll do the basic bulk-fill OC for 20 bucks and then dump that, replacing with a better grade of filter and full-synthetic Oil.  I use Mobil 1 or better and grade-A filters like Wix, NAPA Gold, or Purolator PureOne.  Really I'm quite fiendish about motor oil quality.

But while the truck's up on the lift at STS, I cash in my 'Free Tire Rotation' coupon.

That saves a whole bunch of time and effort, and I can peek at the brakes to see if I need new pads.

My Stihl saws get only Stihl 2-cycle oil and high-octane gas.  Same for all the 2-cycle equipment.

That was the best show I've seen them play.

Johnny was on fire. Colorado came to play.

That was a lot of fun.

Highlights for me

Ramble on Rose

FOTD

Loser

The entire second set!

Small criticism

OMSN seemed like the band couldn't decide on a rhythm to play with. Made it clunky.

I was very glad to have been there.

Did not read many reviews so far.  Did you go to the show solo or with friends? And Was the crowd enjoying the show as much as you?

I really like the setlist.

Show review? I'll try. I did some volunteer work as trade for my tickets so I didn't have an assigned seat. I was able to find one friend on Friday and most of anybody I knew on Saturday. I watched the first sets from a handful of different places ranging from the center of the back, to the sides, the left front corner of the floor and midway between the soundboard and stage for second sets. Some places were with friends and some with just one. It sounded best on the floor.

Without dissecting every song my takeaway was this. My opinion of Mayer has evolved greatly. I found myself thinking that we are lucky to still have this scene in any form. I also conclude that we are lucky to have Mayer working hard to serve the music. Whatever happened from song to song, it wasn't for lack of trying. I felt like this weekend provided some beautiful interpretations of the music I love. I've come to appreciate what the new guys are bringing to the evolution of the music. Oteil's not Phil but he brings a new perspective. Mayer isn't Jerry but he pays homage through tone, and a willingness to learn and deliver signature licks when needed. Beyond that he has mad skills. Rhythm devils and space have become more concise but capture the essence of the Grateful Dead.

I have nothing but praise for the shows this weekend.

The muse descended and the band was a conduit and for a few hours I was grateful to continue this 40 year journey.

Now that's a stellar review!

"Smokestack followed by Spoonful is just an awful, and lazy choice in setlist making."

Just what I said when I saw them do Minglewood and Down In The Bottom > I Ain't Superstitious in the same set (3/29/85).  It's like playing the same song twice (three times?).

^Highnote, great review & moving heartfelt commentary.

I thought shows were great - Friday more so then Saturday though. Did anyone else there notice the dog and handler sniffing around the stage between sets on Saturday? Boulder and the campus were beautiful and the scene was totally chill. What a fun trip!

While it was a chill scene, it was pretty vast ... shakedown was split up into two different areas this year closer to the venue.  It was pretty full on & likewise Saturday was raging all day with the festival on the Hill with Shakedown Street playing what not.  Seems the cops started getting into gear on Saturday night ... saw some dude being arrested on the quad on campus & I was slowly "shadowed" by a cop car as I was walking back to my car at 2am where it was parked on the Hill.

Nice thread. I almost cant believe how positive it is. laugh Im psyched to see this band again soon.  Thanks for all the first hand input and reviews. Nice one Highnote & Noodler!

Thanks for sharing...

Looking forward to ATL tomorrow night!
