Even more dangerous when for some reason your radar guys have their heads up their asses. I have this idea that for at least 50 years the US military has had radar good enough that nothing as large as a ship could sneak up on them. Am i wrong?
Tragic. Of all the branches of the armed forces, the Navy seems to attract young people who aren't necessarily interested in kicking ass and killing people, but instead draws from a wide demographic of folks looking for valuable skills, career opportunities, and a chance to leave their dead end small towns or inner cities and see the world. RIP.

Yeah. Pretty odd situation and sure some heads will roll, but even with all the latest and greatest technology, the sea remains a dangerous place.

This is a pretty inspiring read, Gary Rehm apparently saved many sailors and dies trying to save the rest.
