Average weight of birds are .07 to .7 oz.

Average size of bird is .385 oz,

.385 oz times 4.2% average brain size of/per body mass( bigger than most birds) is .016 oz divided by twenty eight grams per oz is .0006 grams.

i like them

Ruby Throated, big time. Can stand very still next to the feeder and the hum is very very close to the head. When they load up for the migration seems like a small swarm at times. Mean little fuckers to each other.

Not smart enough to not get caught in my garage when I leave the doors open (they continually fly against the ceiling & can't figure out to fly 2 ft lower to get out).  Not a problem this summer as so far this caterpiller infestation has left a carpet of leaves everywhere which I don't want blown inside my garage so doors stay closed unless necessary.

Anglican or Diocesan?

Had one fly in the house, Sideshow Bob. It tired out and landed on a ceiling fan blade. I just reached up and gently grabbed him and carried out back and released. I could feel the heart beat in my palm.

So cool.

The hummingbird whisperer, or maybe just "the hummer"

Size doesn't matter...

This guy....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crawford_Greenewalt

was the grandfather of a friend of mine and a world renowned expert of hummingbirds.

He was also president of the DuPont Company from 1948 to 1962.

More importantly, what does the hummingbird use those milligrams of brain to think about?

^ mrs. Hummingbird, mostly

Jambone, those birds are vicious around the feeders. Mrs. will attack Mr. and vice versa.

Just one more reason he cant get her off his mind....;)
