Justice demands 1.3M IP addresses related to Trump resistance site
The Department of Justice has requested information on visitors to a website used to organize protests against President Trump, the Los Angeles-based Dreamhost said in a blog post published on Monday.
Dreamhost, a web hosting provider, said that it has been working with the Department of Justice for several months on the request, which believes goes too far under the Constitution.
DreamHost claimed that the complying with the request from the Justice Department would amount to handing over roughly 1.3 million visitor IP addresses to the government, in addition to contact information, email content and photos of thousands of visitors to the website, which was involved in organizing protests against Trump on Inauguration Day.
"That information could be used to identify any individuals who used this site to exercise and express political speech protected under the Constitution's First Amendment," DreamHost wrote in the blog post on Monday. "That should be enough to set alarm bells off in anyone's mind."
It would seem to me that the threat of being drafted and sent to Vietnam was a big motivating factor for many people to become active in protest movements, especially against the war. With an all volunteer military these days, it seems easier for people just to check out or limit their activism to sharing posts on Facebook. Do you folks who were draft age during the Vietnam War feel that the level of interest in polical activism is less these days because of the lack of a draft?
But really, the draft and the War were motivating. The threat was real on a very personal level. But also the brutality at Convention in Chicago was televised, and the aftermath of the assassinations was felt in every big city. Those times were dangerous, frightening, and galvanizing. How could we lay low?

I'd also point out that the "opposition" is now firmly aboard the outrage train as well. My Facebook feed is a smoldering dumpster fire of indignation. It's pretty funny that people really believe we need to "stand up" and "fight" against a bunch of beta males waving Nazi flags around. Or, even a racist president who can't actually accomplish anything; because he's probably brain damaged, and most definitely inept.
