I've been a bit scarce here, lately. My work is more computer-intensive now and I am more screen averse when off the clock these days.
I started a new gig in August after a mid-May layoff at Big-Ass Law Inc. ("We will crush you."). My job went to the UK while those of most of my colleagues went to India.
I now have a gig at Big-Ass Finance Management ("Yeah. We own (a stake in) that, too!"). Adjusting to once again walking in NYC (missed it a lot) and being in an office (not as much, and commuting does still suck. Tho' I do pay less than half-fare now.). I had forgotten how long that block between Fifth and Sixth Aves is.
Four days in-office/one WFH w/ a firm laptop. Great group of folks who genuinely like each other. I work next to a guy who I worked next to at my last gig from '13 to '18 or so. A big help navigating a convoluted, confusing tracking/billing dealio.
Microsoft Teams still sucks, and the traffic/interruptions on it are incessant. But it is nice people being nice to each other. Which is a mitigant. There is a fine collective sense of humor there.
"There were a few assholes here, but they didn't want to come back to the office after Covid... 'OK. Good luck.'"
Another upside to the gig switch: I sleep at "normal" hours now. Home by 11:15 most nights. AM sunlight, etc.
Wedding News! Da Boy, turning 33 this year, is getting hitched in a few weeks in SF. Lily just rolled out of NOLA en route to LA, where she will hang with a cousin before heading up to SF. I'll be there from 10/4 to 10/7. I may be able to catch a few sets at HSBG. Ian lives adjacent to the park. Can't wait to meet their pup (6-7 months at this point), Mona (s/f Monaka (a Japanese dessert. Kind of a "sweets" theme; Mona has a sister and a half-sister named "Sugar" and "honey," respectively, that belong to the bride Hyo's sister and her hubby).

Damn. Reading Bluest's post
Damn. Reading Bluest's post makes me think, people have issues with MY posts???
I think I followed most of that, sort of like navigating Manhattan traffic at rush hour?
No matter, happy birthday, and yay for your kid's wedding and hooray for your Bay Area connections!!!
