100 Foot Wave

This has become one of my favorite shows, and I only surfed once in my life.
It's hard to think of an equivalent in another sport to what these surfers do, but I guess it would be like only skiing at the front edge of an avalanche.
And everyone needs to stop listening to Garrett McNamara. How many people is he going to fuck up by pushing them to surf waves they are clearly not able to surf.
Would love to go to Nazaré, Portugal and check out those waves safely from the light house.

I've skied out of several fairly large slides, fortunately. No sweat really. Many others not so fortunate.
But I damn near died in my first 20 minutes of surfing at pipe lol. these guys are most certainly superhumans.
sporting equivalents here would be big wall free soloing, wingsuit pilot, Explosive ordnance disposal guy, climbing K2 without oxygen guy...
the sort where mathematical risk of death far exceeds chance of survival right off the bat I think
you ever see that PBS Nature movie called condition black? Ken Bradshaw was in it. Dated now, but still really cool.
It would be cool to spend a night in that lighthouse. can't wait to watch this!
