Mary J. Blige

Kate Bush

Devo

Foo Fighters

The Go-Go's

Iron Maiden

Chaka Khan

Fela Kuti

LL Cool J

New York Dolls

Rage Against the Machine

Todd Rundgren

About half women.  Surprised Tina Turner and Carole King aren't already in there.   Good to see Iron Maiden, Kate Bush, and RATM make the list.

Carole King

Tina Turner(as a solo artist devoid of the woman beater Ike)

Devo

The Go-Go's

Iron Maiden

Chaka Khan

Fela Kuti

Todd Rundgren

Dionne Warwick

LL Cool J

New York Dolls

My pick. It all means shit as RS controls how this all goes.  I saw the birth of Nirvana and then the Foo Fighters --- the FF need to wait a bit.  Rage as well. Theres no doubt that they will get in but the back slate needs to be cleared.

I'm down to two

Iron Maiden

Jay Z

is there a better rap album in this century than the black album? I can't even think of any that come close.

is there a better metal album in the last than number of the beast? Possibly, arguably, but those guys are already in the RRHOF.

I'm with Joni Mitchell's attitude as "Who gives a fuck".

Since when is RnR a contest or competition for an award. I'm sure that's why Jerry never showed up.

I was in Cleveland and went to the Museum. What a waste of money. Who cares to see the clothes Rod Stewart or Roger Daltrey wore. They did have John Cipollina's guitar and amp in a glass case. But who cares. Didn't thrill me one bit.

Todd Rundgren

He gets my vote

>>>>Todd Rundgren

I didn't know that he had such a hard core fan base until I sat next to a lady on a plane a few years back who explained she was traveling to meet up with some friends and go on Todd tour.

>>>>Ike and Tina were inducted in 1991.

I just saw that Carole King had also been inducted before, but as a songwriter.  This nomination is as a performer.   I took history of rock n roll in college and the professor said Tapestry was the greatest album of all time.   Its a solid album for sure (had it on the turntable just recently), but wouldn't go that far.

Little Feat

Big Todd fan, let him in

i also think it's about time they let my neighbor Dave in, his yard is immaculate

and let the boys from Kent State and Akron Ohio in  - are they not men?

I am also in the 'who cares' camp, but Rundgren should be in there.

The guy has been performing & recording since 1967, was a prolific songwriter who had multiple hits in multiple styles of music spanning multiple decades, could sing with the best of them and was an influence on many other artists.

He was also a great producer, recording records with The Band, Grand Funk, New York Dolls, The Tubes and many others.

I saw Rundgren at the Catalyst (in the 80's, I think)... prog-rockish if I remember correctly.  He was a definite talent and I was also a fan of some of the bands he produced, so I could see him getting a nomination.

Is it just my perception, or has the RRHF been expanding what's considered "rock and roll" more and more with each passing year?  Maybe it's a testament to how R&R pool is shriveling?

I admit to being a bit of a purist about these things, but even though I can't always clearly define what R&R is, I feel like I know what it's not.  Also, I kinda doubt artists from certain other genres would even want to be labeled as rock and rollers, and likewise, I'm pretty sure bands like the Grateful Dead aren't getting into the Hip Hop Hall of Fame any time soon [like, evah].

Anyway, it's nice to be thinking about the meaning of these more or less meaningless subjects as opposed to everything we've had thrown at us in the past year.

fela

ny dolls

these things are re-donculous.

HOF is a POS

Tod Yes, The Nazz !!

Tina Yes

Dolls Yes

Googly! Good to "see" you.

You finally get off your bike long enough to stop by.

Hope all is well.

Hey man!  Yeah, no, still riding like a fiend (10 to 20 hours per week), but the combination of less political strife in the world along with things settling down a little at work (post covid furloughs, etc), I should be around a bit more.

How are things with you?

Slayer

Kenny Loggins

Butthole Surfers

Captain & Tenille

...all yet to be nominated.

Carole King

Todd

The New York Dolls

Diana Warwick.

Pass on the rest.

I can (barely) see squeezing Carol King into the format, but how in any stretch of the imagination is Dionne Warwick rock 'n roll?

And I'm hanging in there Hall. Being retired now makes sheltering pretty easy. I did just have to spend a ton of dough putting a new roof & gutters on my house.

That was no fun, and when you're spending that type of money you want to get a new car or something fun out of it!

Responsibility.

Never been a fan.

Todd is Godd

The last time I saw him Gary had better seats than I did

Tom boy you certainly could have a more exciting car what's wrong with having a bucket or two around the house catching the rain

lltd, the only time Gary doesn't have better seats than you is when you're with Gary.

Which is often.

And I like the idea of buckets, but it's my parents old house and I feel them looking down on me, expecting me to do the right thing.

Besides, I do understand the responsibility bit, especially considering the house is in a nice part of San Jose and is worth BANK, as long as I keep it up.

Not worth what a house in your neck of the 'burbs is perhaps, but still worth keeping up.

Anyway, what the hell am I going to do with a new car these days?

I saw both Gary and Joel at said Todd show which was one of the best Todd show I've seen. Palace of Fine Arts.

Joel is easy to see at shows for obvious reasons (chafing!) and Gary is just as easy to see, because he's at EVERY SINGLE SHOW, and always in the front.

Gary is a Bay Area legend.

HE should be in the Rock 'n Roll HOF!

Chaka Khan is friends with Joni Mitchell.  Compared to the rest, that's good enough for me.

Anyone who's MET Joni Mitchell is good enough for me.

Is the rock and Roll Hall of Fame part of systemic racism? First rock and roll was copied from black Americans, and now they are including other black genres of music and putting them into their own Hall of Fame. Why did they not branch out and say start a Rap hall of Fame in Brooklyn, or a Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in Detroit? Instead they are using these artist to sell ticket at their door.

The Hall needs a name change, I'm with Carmine.

Congrats Todd, Tina, King, Charlie Patton, Billy Preston, Randy Rhoades + Gil Scott-Heron

Todd Rundgren is well overdue other than that ?????

They did have John Cipollina's guitar and amp in a glass case. But who cares. Didn't thrill me one bit.))))))))))))))))))))))

I have it on very good authority that some of John's ashes are in that guitar at The RRHF

I'm with Hall and others. Very few inductees are actually R&R so I don't even pay attention.

Well, I opened this thread, so there is that.  But still.
