3-D modeling Software, free or cheap ??

Forums:

Someone point out a very basic 3D package for me.  Doesn't need to be architectural grade,  just something to help visualize backyard shed projects and such.

For example,  let's say I have xxx amount of concrete cylinders measuring 6 x 14 inches and want to build a wall with them.

So the software I'm looking for would allow me to create a 3D object (cylinder) and then model 'arrays' of said object.

I have Mac & Windoze boxes.  Either platform would work.

I did find this ^ page but have not tried any of the programs listed.

Anyone know something?

Kindly chime in.

Thanks dayl,

I'll have the night/weekend staff leave a note for the 3D division.

Seems like a helpful suggestion.

http://www.sketchup.com/  You might try this it's called Sketchup. Although I've not used it my neighbor swears by it (I think this is it he said it is easy to use).

Thanks Brnxeyed.

I looked at their site and that seems like it might work for me,  just looking at the promo stuff.

Next time I'm in town with fast WIFI connection,  I'll try and download that one.

I just need the very basic wireframe and 3-D array tools,  no need to render all the surfaces or make the stuff move.

So the simpler, the better.

Send me .05 bitcoin and I’ll hook u up

Thanks,  Mr. chaco.

If I had .05 bitcoin,  I could buy a town the size of AutoCad.

But ya know ?? I'm only in it for the Bronze.

Bronze edition 3-D freeware -- step right up.

Stu is you windoze box XP or something newer?

more along the loins of H.I.M.

Brnxeyed --

I have an XP box like in Ender's picture,  and a dell laptop w/ win 7.  The latter runs most modern stuff.

Also some macs running various osX versions.

What I'm lacking is fast bandwidth at home,  so I take the laptop to whatever coffee shop or restaurant with fast wiFi for grabbing large files.

Stu I have a acad 2000i disc (old version that will not work on anything newer than XP or win 2000). If it will work for you  send me your addy (jffkstr1 at yahoo dot com) I'll stick it in the mail.

Thanks Brnxeyed,

I'll take you up on that.  Will email tonight or tomorrow.  Used to run  v. 10 & 11 back in the early 90's so there's some catching up to do.

I'll watch for it. I had to get 2016 my xp box died...

I like sketchup

plenty of nice plugins and a good library of user submitted drawings including dynamic ones that save a lot of time.

This is an example, a tshirt display for a pizza joint.

So I did download 'Sketchup' and some others.  They are not all as intuitive and easy to learn compared to a Kid - friendly software like 'Amorphium'  ca. 2000.  But at least there are some free 3D modeling softwares out there which run on a Windoze platform.

AutoDesk inc. 'had'  a few free and interesting programs,  but got bored of it.  Now it's hard to find last year's version to download.

There are some Waaayy Rad sculpture 3-D thangs out there,  but they are web-based and so you can't download the program.

Fun stuff though.

Disc in the mail.....Stu

Thanks,

Mr. BrnXeyed.

Got the Disc in the mailbox a while back,  just wanted to say "Thank You".

Have not installed yet,  but looking forward to that project.

Appreciate your Time & Effort.
