39 Years Ago Today: One of Europe 72's Best Jams

Forums:

Just the second show of the tour, this 55+ minute medley may be the best of Pig's last year w/the band, Garcia takes Dark Star to several quiet & intense places including a Tiger Jam, one of the smoothest transitions ever into Sugar Magnolia, and a raging, out of control Caution.

Fuzzy math krab....  Great show!

This is my all time favorite Dark Star. If I could only have 8-9 minutes of music on a desert island, it would be the beginning of this one.

And yeah, that Caution. I just got goose bumps remembering it. Will definitely be playing this one today. Loud.

I found a ticket stub to this show in a copy of E72 a while back

I listened to the Dark Star > Sugar Mag > Caution on my drive back from North Hollywood last night, and it gave me goose bumps again just like the first time I heard it.

I think that was 49 years ago if my math serves me well. Still holds the test of time what a grate jam/transition.

I wonder what my Mint condition in the mini crate of The Europe 72 Box set is worth these days.

Quite a bit more than you paid for it, if you can believe Google.

I was offered $2,500 for mine. Turned it down without reservations. Easily the best box set ever.

Listening to the Olympia Theater on 1972-05-03, great Phil jams
