40 Years Ago Today——First Show—Syracuse 9-24-82

Forums:

"Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was Syracuse." I think one of the Marx bros. said that.

A crazy way to be introduced to the band, massive indoor stadium----I ended up going to all three shows there '82-'84; Garcia, and drumz (of all things) got me on the bus, and then seeing the Garcia Band in a theater 6 months later forced me buy a lifetime pass....never looked back, no regrets.

Thanks to everyone along the way......Being a part of this since I was 12 has been blessing, to this day.

What a long strange trip indeed!

Ah, '82 was a very good year.

40 years. Such a long time.

And really, not so much time at all.

On it goes!

Perfect way to end the tour.  Long show, tunes I had only seen a few time before(Iko & Fingers), maybe only time I saw 6 songs after the drums not including the encore.  Also caught '83 & '84 and the 4/9/82 show at the 7,000 seat War Memorial.

^^All Good! I really enjoyed seeing The Jerry Band  (and feeling lucky about it too!) at Rochester in '93 at that ole War Memorial too. I bet GD was fabulous in that old place.

Bobby's 5th wedding anniversary nudge nudge wink wink..fun tour, fun closer ,had a buddy who was going to college there, animal house style pregame..and fine cocaïne...ahhh yes 82 , wouldn't of done it any different

I was at this one in 82--was it the last show of the tour as I recall? Also went the next year in October 83 one as well with the reconstituted The Band opening up.  1982 was better as I recall

82 was a great year for me. Duke, Norfolk, Baltimore, Ventura, US Festival and Frost were all pretty epic.
