#41 Has Died

RIP, you were smarter than your son.

^^ Yes.

Sky Diver RIP!

Smart enough to know when to call it good in Iraq.

WWII pilot and CIA mastermind.

Read my lips ... RIP you devious old son of bitch.

Thoughts and prayers

cheers

they’re all hammered

Odds of Trump attending funeral 12% he goes, and if so bad mouths 41 in comparison to new troubles

As much as I wasn't a big fan of him as President, I wish him no bad thoughts and may he RIP.

It's also unfortunate in that he may have been able to lend reason & credibility to crisis that is facing our nation.    I have been holding out hope that a joint statement by all former Presidents - at the right moment - might carry enough sway to affect some meaningful change at some crucial juncture.  Say what you'd like about his Presidency, there's now one less adult in the room that is comprised of self absorbed children.

Can't see OrangeMan getting invited as he was told to stay away from Barbara's funeral and the family appears to hate him

Say what you'd like about his Presidency, there's now one less adult in the room that is comprised of self absorbed children.

And as 3/4 living former POTUS are Dem's no one from Trump to McConnell cares what they have to say

Scared me for a moment there!  Thought you were talking about Tom Seaver.tom-seaver-052617-usnews-getty-ftr_1np1u4jz5yfzp1ashmzn0e409p.jpgFortunately,  he's still alive.

As for the other 41,  are we sure he is dead?  Did anyone bother to drive a wooden stake through the corpse?

Saw Tom and Nancy on the Northern State / GCP about 1 month ago, they looked pretty good for their age, driving a big ass Mercedes, guess the wine businss is profitable

And as 3/4 living former POTUS are Dem's no one from Trump to McConnell cares what they have to say<<<

^ this is exactly what i was getting at, but it may have been different with HW's signature on a joint statement of all former Presidents; maybe not an avalanche, but possibly just enough to shave a little bit more off the base to make a difference

A good man?

Perhaps.  I have given up trying to determine if this is true about people that I don't actually know.  I do believe that he (like his son) did what he did because he thought it was the right thing to do and not out of any malice or nefarious ideas.

But doing what you think is right doesn't mean that it is right.  And there can be no doubt that 41 is as responsible for the problems that we as a country are facing today as is anyone else.  He was a member of the Ivy League Elite (of both parties)  that has been ruling this country for decades and has brought us to where we are today with inane concepts such as a "New World Order" that have substituted the idea of a strong independent country for some nebulous concept of one world government (eg the EU) that is not accountable to any specific population and cares little for the democratic traditions of a representative republic or parliamentary system that is accountable to a particular electorate. He was a member of a ruling class that no longer believes in the basics of our Constitutional system that began with Wilson and has been gaining strength ever since.  No  President since FDR was as much of product of the establishment as 41 was, and it showed.

The people who got us into this situation are not going to be the ones to get us out, if that is even possible anymore.

RIP

careful, everyone. alot of butt hurtness  here when the missus passed...

Remember the slam-dunk Willie Horton ad?

How many Deadheads went to prison as a result of policies he supported?

Not grieving here...

Reagan policy sycophant who pushed both domestic and international police nation tactics that accelerated the degradation of the United States. He married a racist ice queen and raised an unenlightened devil child who, unbelievably, made things even much worse. Kudos on his military service but beyond that, pahlease.

Think I'm gonna watch some early Simpsons episodes tonight in memory.

He crashed his plane in WWII, I like guys that don't crash.

^Yes.  and guys that get caught as POW's.  Fuck those people.  Losers!

Interesting post Thom.

Thanks for sharing your analysis.

I'm not going to loose any sleep.

A friend said it best

>Dam people tell the whole truth. Clarence Thomas, Iran / Contra , supporting Trickle down BS as VP. He and his participation in the path that was created and for us here today. Stopping making him out as other than he was. Another white privileged man.

on the bright side, at least Bush didn’t sell out our country to Putin, didn’t pull babies from the arms of their their asylum seeking parents and put them in concentration camps and suck up to Nazis. And he wasn’t the laughing stock of the world, like Donnie.

Nothing like the zone to not let a death go to waste.

He played a three hour foursome. :)

Hank, not too late for you to post a eulogy for Bush. Whatcha got?

If Bush Sr. wasn't so bitter about Sadam and the 1st Iraq war, I am highly doubtful his son would have got us in the 2nd war, and murdered hundreds of thousands, while destabilizing the entire region.

RIP GHW Bush, may you and your family enjoy each other's love for all eternity.

Scared me for a moment there!  Thought you were talking about Tom Seaver.<<

Me, too.

NY-centric?  I'll cop to that.

That one time when Bush Sr. Pardoned all these people:

Caspar W. Weinberger (1988 Several counts of perjury, See Iran-Contra Affair)

Elliott Abrams (1988 Two counts of unlawfully withholding information. See Iran-Contra Affair)

Duane R. Clarridge (1991 Seven counts of perjury and false statements, See Iran-Contra Affair)

Alan D. Fiers (1991 Two misdemeanor counts of withholding information from the Congress, See Iran-Contra Affair)

Clair George

(1991 Ten counts of perjury, false statements and obstruction)

(1992 two felony charges of false statements and perjury before Congress — see Iran-Contra Affair)

Robert C. McFarlane (1988 See Iran-Contra Affair)

So yeah... RIH

c'mon GW

c'mon GW

*rolls dice

very bad dude from a very bad family. glad he's gone

Remember when family crime syndicates weren't so tacky?

*sigh*

I couldn’t agree more. Between his time at the CIA and Trilateral Commission, GW was in on some shady assed shit. His presidency scared the shit out of me, simply because he knew too much and had his grubby paws in too many nasty things.

"The inconvenient truth is that the presidency of George Herbert Walker Bush had far more in common with the recognizably belligerent, corrupt, and right-wing Republican figures who came after him — his son George W. and the current orange-faced incumbent — than much of the political and media classes might have you believe."

No respect for the wicked. Not in life, not in death. As the article so eloquently states, he was a public figure, not a private figure. Throw salt on his grave...

Cold warriors...times up
