41 years ago The Clash at Bonds Casino for 17 nights

Forums:

Hard to believe it was 41 years ago that The Clash opened their run at Bonds. This was the run that the band elevated from cult status to Bonafide stars. The promoter grossly oversold the venue selling 3500 tickets for a venue that had a capacity of 1750. Those first two nights were beyond crowded and NYC shut down the 8 night run right after. Bravo to The Clash for honoring all the tickets by extending the run to 17 nights while crucifying the promoter. I ended up at 4 performances during the run and the energy even when the correct amount of people were let in was something I don't think I will ever experience again. Amazing.

That was an wild run of shows. The Clash were billed as "The only band that matters".

I had tix to one of the rescheduled shows.

The energy outside and inside was amazing.

Movie footage from the run is in the video for "This is Radio Clash".
