50 years ago - 'The Last One'

10/20/74 - the final Grateful Dead show at the Winterland. I've always enjoyed listening to the shows from this run and the final night sure sounds like a good party.
I'm curious from folks who were going to shows in 74 - was the feeling that the band was really done? I can't imagine going to a week of shows as good as these and then thinking 'that's all folks'.

I've always been amazed that the Steal Your Face album came from these shows. They must have pulled the worst performances for that album.

I unfortunately don't know about that, but 40 years ago today I was at the Syracuse Carrier Dome, and it was a raging show.
So I Can say 10 years later they still had "it."
