There have been 7 state abortion questions on the ballot since the Dobbs ruling overturned Roe v Wade and the Pro Choice side has resoundingly won every single time. Last night in Ohio and before that in Kentucky, Montana, and Kansas.
Meanwhile the Republicans are going to shut down the government in a few months in order to try and shove more unpopular abortion restrictions down the the throats of Americans. I can only imagine that the Speaker is having some interesting conversations with the "moderate" Republican reps who have to run in districts that Biden won, but the great thing is that the Republicans can't run from the issue because if they do they will be primaried out.
Dems should start wearing Blue FAFO hats.
Another election night, another resounding victory for abortion rights in a red state. It is yet another confirmation that the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision has created a revolution in American politics, the scope of which is even today only dimly perceived in most national political debates. On its face Ohio’s Issue 1 was an amendment to the state constitution to require a 60% threshold for ballot referendums to change the state constitution. But it was understood from the start as a tool to short-circuit a November ballot initiative to codify abortion rights in the state constitution. On both sides of the question it was fought out on that basis. As I write, “No” (the de facto abortion rights side) is winning by 57% and that may go higher when all ballots are counted.

Repubs are stepping in big
Repubs are stepping in big pile of shit that they created all by themselves.....they are the dog who caught the car.
Several other states are now looking at putting referendums about abortion access on the ballot in 2024.

Yes it's a win, but it wasn't
Yes it's a win, but it wasn't just about abortion. Some parts of the coalition that did it had other issues, like people who like fair and good governance being angry about trying to change the constitution in an August election. Other issues too, and some of those voters may vote against a woman's right to choose later. But the numbers were pretty good.
Like some talking head said this morning, seeing 57% in that election shows how hard it would be to hit that 60% threshold in the ballot question, and proves their point!

While GOPrz have become near
While GOPrz have become near single-issue fixated - and losing at that - Dems have out-performed historical trends in every nationwide special election by around 10 points since abortion became "a state's rights issue" (yea, right - while red state officials try to find ways to meddle into and punish the rights of people in blue states). Dems barely need a strategy with that opposing one securely in place.
