Forums:

Thanks for dusting these off Ian, and Kevin for the upgrade.

As I recall, these were shot from these little weird partial rows of seats in the very back corners of the arena, but thankfully Digital Jeff had a really good lens (for the time) and a fluid head tripod. Scoring these seats was a challenge but most other people were scampering to be down front. These guys needed front row of the balcony.

The video tapers had to be very stealthy back then and got shut down more than once. The Dead folks -- it wasn't just arena security -- actually got so pissed off at them, especially the repeat offenders, that they actively hunted them down the audience. One time after catching him (again), they even locked Jeff in an actual prison cell located underneath the Oakland Coliseum because he wouldn't relinquish his tape. His attitude was something like: According to the ticket, you can kick me out but you can't confiscate my stuff. The police, when called, were even perplexed what to do. Luckily he didn't get the shit beat out of him, but it came close. I think he gave that tape up.

Thank you

He just posted this 6 hours ago and its in standard definition and there are adds in his site. That is not good.

This not the direction YT and GD are going. They do not want any type of technical backwards compatibility or commercialization.

He's a great guy and his Herculean efforts are appreciated.

His first 4 conversion that he had done were with me and my tapes in 2004. The Vennetta 8/72 is mine that I got Phil Deguire in 1996.

Good morning T-rex.

I put the two and two together (your age group & knowledge of the movie) when you were kind enough to take the time to correct me on my misspelling

You were inadvertently nice and now there's' nothing you can do about that, other then to the kick the cat.

>> other then kick your cat the kick your cat.

I was at those shows, good times! Didn't Baba Olatungi play too?  (and wasn't NYE broadcast on PBS?)

uh oh....here we go again :(

^^ yes baba played , i think a set after Neville Bros. , and joined GD on Encore NFA Lovelite, not for Brokedown. Yes, also, fm broadcast (per usual) AND tv broadcast on public tv.

30th features first appearance of Mighty Quinn

How many other shows did the crowd induce a NFA opener???

Loved the Quinn, excellent start to the show...   (of course they butchered it a few months later at the Greek, but those 3 shows were my worst dead shows musically, but the "box of rain" story on the 3rd day was legendary).

Would be cool to see the pro shot video(s)

12/31/85 was the weakest of the 11 NYE shows i saw by far. Dec 30 was way better plus that was the Mighty Quinn breakout.
