Africans a-liberate Zimbabwe

Forums:

Bye bye Mugabe.  The 93-year-old dictator who has ruled the country with an iron fist since the 1979 revolution that liberated the white ruled Rhodesia is on his way out, courtesy of the Zimbabwe army.

I rarely see the "Made in Zimbabwe" products in my local grocery and/or stores.

Aside from chopping up the evil white folks with machétes,  what exactly have they produced in the last 35 years or so,  since the revolution ??

No doubt there have been shady outfits exploiting Mineral resources,  but those folks don't advertise much.

or not. the news is very spotty.

>>what exactly have they produced in the last 35 years

a better question is: what percentage of everything they produced went into Mugabe's Swiss bank accounts?

>>>what exactly have they produced in the last 35 years

Well, they have produced a lot of these:

100 trillion.jpg

Yes, that's 100 Trillion (with a "T").   The value of this note comes out to around forty cents (USD).

 buh bye Gucci Grace...

"That's how it went last Friday when the World Health Organization, ostensibly one of the least nutty operating units of the UN (compared with, say, the Human Rights Council), announced that Robert Mugabe was being appointed a WHO "Goodwill Ambassador". Mr Mugabe's idea of "goodwill" is to send his goons round to your farmhouse to announce he's stealing your land - and, if you're minded to object, kill your farm workers or wife or kid. When Zimbabwe's nonagenarian monster goes Goodwill hunting, best not to stand in his path.

Yesterday the WHO was forced to back down. But how did it ever get as far as an official announcement? Mugabe's greatest contribution to "world health" has been to raise the comparative life expectancy of every other country by dramatically reducing his own over his first quarter-century:

Life expectancy in Zimbabwe, 1980: 59.39 years

Life expectancy in Zimbabwe, 2005: 41.76 years

In fairness, this wasn't accomplished merely through killing people. He also starves his hospitals of basic drugs and materials, while jetting off to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for the world-class medical treatment that keeps him remarkably spry at the age of 93."

My Nigerian office mate has always been very nonchalant about Mugabe.  "That's who they keep electing."

Zimbabwe is all good - as long as we can kill their elephants and bring the heads back to the US to hang on our walls as trophies, what else matters?

Elephant foot umbrella holders matter too.

The headline writers @ Reuters drank extra strong coffee this morning:
