On Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions attempted to clarify statements made in his January testimony through a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) was unmoved.

"I think Senator Sessions should come back. I think he owes it to this committee to come back and to explain himself, because he says in his letter...  'I did not mention communications I had with the Russian ambassador over the years because the question did not ask about them," Franken seethed Tuesday.

Sessions met with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice last year, according to a Washington Post story that broke late Wednesday.

"I asked him what he would do as attorney general if it was true that members of the campaign had met with Russians!" he hammered. "So he says, 'I did not mention communications I had with the Russian ambassador over the years because the question did not ask about them.' He answered a question I didn't ask, and for him to put this in his letter as a response is insulting!"

Watch:

is it the al franken decade again

How nice for Al Franken.

If that's Nuclear then what the hell would you call what St. Mark did to the baby boomers in that thread???

i watched al franken's interview today and he was fierce. ha.

i recall when he was part of the gd halloween show at rcmh '80 with davis.

who knew he would go on to slay dragons.

Is he slaying them, or just wrastling with them, sticking a three-inch knife into five-inch skin?

Five-inch scaly skin??

hey lann, you got a point. ha.

but just seeing anybody standing up to this admin is swell.

Don't get me wrong...

Gosh darn it, I like Al Franken!

s he slaying them, or just wrastling with them>>>>>

Its not a piledriver or a tombstone but its still early in the match.

Seems like the bar for "going nuclear" has fallen a little.

he would make a great President.  I like smart, educated people to be in charge. Oh and a bit of political experience helps.

Thanks for the link Oaks, you bring up some good stuff here.

Why ‘Al Franken for president’ isn’t as crazy as you might think

By Chris Cillizza

In the piece, Kraushaar writes the following about Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota:

...He’s emerged as one of the Democrats’ most aggressive and effective questioners of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees. He’s generated numerous made-for-TV clips as one of the few Democrats willing to go full-bore against his party’s top targets — Jeff Sessions, Tom Price, and Betsy DeVos. He’s finally showing some personality in the Senate, punctuated by his laugh-out-loud exchange with Energy Secretary-designate Rick Perry. And he’ll be one of nine Democrats on the Judiciary Committee questioning Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch. This is Al Franken’s moment in the spotlight, and if he chooses, he could parlay his good fortune into a bid for the presidency in 2020...
