Al Stewart is 80 years old. I hope he has an excellent birthday, and many more!

Heard an interview with him once.  He said he'd wanted to sing in a heavy metal band, but his voice was....too light.

funny guy.  I've always enjoyed his music style.

If he owns a yacht, it probably has a name like Whimsy or Insouciant.

I saw him in 1986 at a place just outside of Philly. Might have been at what's now the Ardmore Music Hall. He put on a solid show.

I saw him play last year at the tiny Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs.   He sounded and looked great.

I have probably seen Al play 20 shows, or more, all since the early 2000s. Solo, in a duo, and with a band. Always a good show. Yes, he plays "Year of the Cat" at every show, and his better known songs are in heavy rotation, but he has written so many good songs that he often mixes up the set list in interesting ways. His stories and historical banter are also interesting and funny. He is currently on his "Farewell Tour." Apparently planning to scale back if not retire after many years of steady touring.
