Dutch photographer Albert Dros camped out under the stars to get the perfect shot of Fuego Volcano in Guatemala as lava was spurting out of its crater.
The 31-year-old said he was 'paralysed with awe' as he watched ash clouds drift up into the night sky - almost appearing to merge into the stars.

Reminds me of seeing Dylan in concert back at the Greek Theater in Toaramina Sicily in 2001. Mt Etna was spewing like this directly behind the stage.

That's awesome. Guatemala and the Mayan Highlands is on tap for my upcoming annual Central American get away. It would be cool to see an active one.
Was in Costa Rica in March and stayed at the base of Arenal Volcano, which had stopped erupting a few years ago:
Here is Mt. St. Helens from near Ape Canyon. The devastation from the 1980 eruption is still vivid. Saw it blow it 2004, but it has since quieted down again:
