Anders Osborne

Forums:

Any one ever check out Anders Osborne outside of playing with Phil Lesh? Is he good?

He has a bunch of shows set up and I am picking up tickets to see him with The Ghost of Paul (?) at a small theater in Bayshore Long Island called The Boulton Center, 2/19/17.

Anders is playing the Capitol in Port Chester the night before a Saturday, 2/18/17.

I noticed Morning Dew Radio show in a thread here is giving away tickets to the Capitol Theater, Port Chester show, 2/18/17

Yes from what I've listened to he's worth seeing live.  Some good Neil Young ish originals.  I want to attend that show too, but dammit there's like 3 shows on that same date I want to see, plus possibly Lyn's niece's wedding.  And of course there'll be a Nor'Easter  Argh!

Thanks Man. He has a new CD out that looks cool.

he is a force of nature

and he has a few good songs.

I've seen him a few times. He is not my thing.no

I dig the Anders...

I have seen him a few times both with Phil and on his own.  Really great musician, total control of his instrument.  After seeing the post I went and won a pair of tickets to see him at the Cap.  Can't wait!

He is ok, another artist I kinda scratch my head over. It must me a left coast thing

I'm on the east coast and have enjoyed the shows I've seen...he's a soulful mofo imho

I saw an interesting article on Anders recently.  It explained how he's been handling fighting addiction and credits his new work as a big help.

Go to the show!

Anders and his band play with reckless abandon. It is not jamband, but rather a jambalaya of blues, power trio, new orleans funk.

The bass player is a visual treat. Looks like the Amish kid who went on rumspringer, took a hit, picked up a bass and hasn't come down yet. Bounces around and looks like he's having a ball.

The other guitar player is very skilled, energetic by almost all standards, but when on stage with bass player and Anders, he is, comparatively, mellow.

Anders, meanwhile, is Bam Bam from the Flintstones. He is sweating from his bouncing from the opening chord. He changes guitars virtually every song and has to change his shirt midway through the show. His lyrics and good and honest. His singing is much more of a yelling approach.

They do not take themselves too seriously and seem to have a ton of fun playing.

This is not sit down and listen to music. 90 plus minutes of high energy stuff.

Thank you so very much. Folks!

Well worth checking out. I'm a big fan. You may be too.
