Another arena, another fall

Forums:

Apparently, someone fell or jumped from the upper level into a lower level section at MSG during a Goose concert tonight. People are saying it was a pretty grim scene.

Sounds very similar to what happened at a Phish show in San Francisco about five years ago.

From all the years I worked shows and saw firsthand how crazy people get I've always been amazed that this type of thing doesn't happen more often, and I have seen a lot of emergencies over the years, but something like this only a handful of times.

Be careful out there folks.

Hope no one else got hurt.  Duck duck Goose.

I will never forget being in the balcony at that Warfield Phil show and watching the guy go over the rail and crash into the crowd below. An ugly event.

That Blue Wall at Giants Stadium was a Narley jump , but  at the time we landed on all fours...and were on the field.

worst I witnessed at a show: a guy leaned over the rail too far and toppled over and bounced head first

security thought he was trying to get on the floor

Tragedy narrowly averted at SPAC on June 27, 1985, and Bob and Phil's my-dog-has-no-nose joke to boot.

I haven't really been following the story, but because it happened in New York City it keeps getting talked about; from possibly unsubstantiated reports the guy didn't fall, he dove head first.

If that's true it's just like the guy at Chase Center, just like Yossarian at the Warfield, and has to be doubly heartbreaking for his family.

Drugs are bad, uum'kay?

drugs at shows have been pretty great for me.

dude must have taken the brown motorboat

Irresponsible or frivolous use of serious drugs is bad, uum'kay?

I do believe that is more accurate, but it just doesn't have the same jocular bounce.

Whatever happened, it sounds like he was a good guy with a good job and a fine family; he and his wife were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary at the show.

As an old work partner of mine used to say, things can go from sugar to shit in the blink of an eye.

Be careful out there.

On it goes.
