I'm not one of them, but Joaquín Niemann won the Greenbrier Classic. He's Chilean so naturally we're all pretty stoked about that. When you think about what the odds are of someone from Chile versus someone from the states achieving this kind of thing, it's pretty astronomical. Out of the top 23 18 are American. And this 20 year old kid from Chile won it. Why is it more difficult for someone from a country like Chile to win this? Two reasons: population and money. Chile has 17 million people, the US has 300 million. Right off the bat, the odds are better in the US. But then factor in the economy in the US, the quality of training facilities and professionals...well, anyways. I'm pretty happy for him. If he keeps it up, this should propel him into the pros in a major way. Or it may just be a one off. In any case, Viva, Chile! :)

we can’t put together a decent soccer team either. maybe you are downplaying the talents of your fellow Chileans.
Congrats to Joaquín. If he has any luck Brooks Koepka will take him under his wing.

The other day, a guy from Peru, Luzardo, became the first person from that country to play in an MLB game, for the A's.
Good for the guy yesterday . He won by four or five strokes, which makes that walk up 18 all the better.
Of course It helps that it was the first tournament of the season and most of the heavy hitters weren't there.

Ras, you gotta get out more, buddy. Whole lotta continent and lots of cool stuff in South America, though admittedly, Macchu Pichu is among the coolest...But yeah, sure hope the kid can keep it up.
Bucky, you may be right about that.
Local, I didn't know that the heavy hitters weren't there, interesting detail for sure. Hope he can hang when they are!
