Any Southside Johnny fans?

I cant seem to find any info on “broke home piece of man”, though. Was Southside an orphan?

It's Broke DOWN Piece of Man, funny you should post this, I just bought a SSJ cd Live ay the Stone Pony where he covers a Little Steven record called Men Without Women that Steven wrote for SSJ but that was never released by SSJ. Its a great cd, been a fan since I saw him when I Don't Wanna Go Home came out and he schleeped the band up to the Bottom Line. Heart of Stone and Better Days are his best IMO

BTW, there are many versions of both of those songs out there, don't know which you have, are you sure its Bon Jovi and not Little Steven?

no it sounded like Bon Jovi to me

broke down makes more sense it says broke “home” though

ok not saying you are wrong i don't know that version Bon Jovi has always said SSJ was an influence on him so the duet makes sense

Johnny is my 1st Cousin , My Dad and his Mom, were brother and sister. Johnny is not an Orphan by any means.

No shit!! Well that solves that! Next time you talk to him tell him he has a new fan.

I just looked it up and I was mistaken. A “broken home” means your parents divorced, not that you were orphaned.

Did his parents divorce? That’s probably what it’s about.

Fan here and on more than one occasion, I have been mistaken as him, including one time security tried to rush me in the artists entrance at a Bruce Springsteen holiday show at Convention Hall in Asbury Park. The show was about to start and Johnny was MIA...lol.

Neither of the above referenced songs are duets. Broke Down Piece of Man was co-written by Steve Cropper of the Stax label house band. The other author was Joe Shamwell, who co-wrote a ton of songs with Issac Hayes, Booker T., William Bell and countless others. Trapped Again was actually Southside's first co-write with Stevie Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen.

No, his Parents never divorced...

wow some good stuff here!!

I meant singing duets it sounds like him and someone else

you look like Southside Johnny?

sounds like it was Steve Cropper’s folks who divorced ty everyone

you look like Southside Johnny?

With my hair falling like Southside's often does, when I wear similar sunglasses, some people seem to think so. Go figure.

He and you look good on that album cover but in that pic right above he/you kind of look like fat Colin Quinn.

No offense I’m no looker myself

is that one of the zone gathering pics knot Esau?

Knot's photo is actually a composite of several AMSaddler's PR shots.  AM appears in different guises depending upon which show he is shooting.

The three guys on the right with the same 'Beatle Boots' sort of gives it away,  but most security staff don't pay attention to the shoes.

One time I was at a Vivaldi show at the Philharmonic,  chasing this Classical Chick.  Dude in a Dark suit and tophat in the next Box is liek,  'Hey Disco!'  and of course it was AMS.  You wouldn't have known -- he looked like a younger Cassius Clay.

Another time I was taking a tour of the Bronx Zoo,  and this Orangutan motions me over,  then says "Stu you're in my shot.  Move ten feet to the Left".  Guess who ?

Nice thanks Coyotte

Bucky

If you are new to SSJ and Coyote and Skifurther may disagree, I recommend Hearts of Stone, Better Days and This Time It's For Real as studio cd's to check out and Skifurther nice pics on Backstreets yesterday

The Southside & The Jukes catalog goes deep but their best stuff has always been live. No argument on the above songs, EBY. One of the amazing things about The Jukes is how many of the alumni have "made" it over the years. Although some might not be household names and some are, they ended up producers, musicians, TV personalities, record label brass and successful music promoters. One of my favorite SSJ & TAJ songs has current Conan O'Brien bandleader, Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg, included in the "lyrics." This one goes back to '78 and another member of Conan's band,
Mark "The Loveman" Pender still has hair.

When You Dance

Upon re-listening to Broke Down Piece of Man, it is indeed a duet. The other voice on the song is Steven Van Zandt. My apologies for posting from memory.

Somehow I missed this when it first was released SSJ and La Bamba Big Band, Grapefruit Moon. Covering the songs of one Tom Waits, in big band style pretty good to these ears, now if I could only find La Bamba and the Hubcaps, not sre it was every a commercial release

LA BAMBA LA BAMBA LA BAMBA LA BAMBA
