Anybody going to Brooklyn?

Forums:

As much as it's (to say it nicely) not my favorite venue, I'm still going because it's near where my kids live & I want to.

Also, cheaper than the Capitol shows (and I wouldn't stay with the kids after that bc it'd be just as easy to drive home, as all the way to Brooklyn from Portchester).

Anyone else?

1. brightday & maybe some sort of companion (?)

2. ?

3. ?

Hm, just got a flash of deja vu and I wonder if that signifies that I have posted a similar question in this very place, or elsewhere frequented by the same general group of people, in which case excuse me for the Emilyishness, if that's the proper usage of the term. (I think the actual Emily is kind of from before my time..... but I know what the verb means..... oh I guess it's a noun too (for example, with the prefixes I used right up there, it's a noun).

OK

Who else is going to hear Phil amid the crash of bowling pins and crush of drunk millenials (not a slur! & don't get me wrong I love millenials, my 3 favorite people in the world are millenials - I'm simply using the word as a straight-up non-ironic descriptive noun, meaning folks of a certain age, nothing more or less than that).

What is this trimmed version preview or full preview business? Honestly it creeps me out.

If viva is a cross between DSO and Pet Semetary (a thought that occurred to me quite early on in its infancy, but I thought it would be rude to say in case Dino is here, which I forget his name here anyway so I couldn't check [btw I don't know him personally just using his name because, actually, I think my ocd is choosing tonight to wreak destruction & chaos & wordiness & exactitude & stuff, so I'm going to try again to post this,

Oh but to finish my thought, if viva is a cross between DSO and Pet Semetary, the trimmed/ full non-clickable choice (?) and a couple of other glitches or features, is making this place lean more toward the Pet Semetary-esque side of the family, more so it reminds me of DSO. Just at the moment. Does anybody else get that, or perhaps another disturbing glitch?

OK

Love to all (keeping each other at arm's length for some members possibly, but yes, I do feel a sort of generalized platonic love to all the zoners I've hung out with, definitely).

I feel like I'm not going to remember this in the morning. A friend of mine posted on facebook this morning, who has recently been using her account to subtly promote her business & maybe get some new clients (escort/maybe sex worker sort of business evidently) so, anyway she posted something like "facebook in the morning - and I love porn" and (I guess I must have thought I was commenting on something else) I typed :

"Me too, thanks for the heads up!" LOL I have literally never watched a porn thing. I've read Penthouse & Playboy like 100 years ago when I lived w/my first husband, didn't look at the pictures much - not attracted to women anyway - and besides, it's not like she posted the link to a porn site - which "heads up" was I thanking her for?

Cracked me up when she "liked" it a short while ago & I clicked thru, only to not recognize my comment haha

(it's not about ZUI either. Or would that be referred to as VUI, now? Anyway, I'm not; just my usual cocktail of prescriptions But - I'm feeling a little jaunty and like, healthy tonight -- should anyone be inquisitive, regarding from whence these possibly-excessive levels of visible volubility evident in my vivaciously, or even, overly [!] verbose virtual observations derive -- I'd venture to say it's the visually observable visage of vibrantly marvelous vigor, or the viciously vivid illusive veneer thereov.)

Aand, it's not November so my illiterative interval is unavoidably over. Au revoir, mijn vrienden ~~  cheeky

It won't let me edit again (boo hiss)

So, it's

more so than it reminds me of DSO

and close my bracket

and the parentheses too, just put the other one anywhere.

Wow..im an idiot...(ya, i know..no shock there), i heard about these a while back, and i dont know why, but, i just assumed they were vegas brooklyn bowl, since he was already comin to cap in march when these were announced....

There is one in vegas, right???...lol

Would be fun if I just lived a bit closer.  Manhattan is about 3.5 hours travel time on the train & driving to station.  Add another 1.5 from NYC Penn to Brooklyn r/t;  "such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there".

Brooklyn is a bitch. But the BB is no way an hour from Penn or Grand Central, more like half an hour. It's right on the other side of the bridge practically!

Coney Island (furthur) was ridiculous. And I forget why but I had to drive back & forth to Woodstock between the 2 shows. I think my tix for the 2nd night were coming express that afternoon - Brooklyn is how you say, sprawling.

So if nobody is going, I guess I can really spread out huh. That'll be fun. Well, now that I'm older than most of the crowd, people tend to give me a lot of space anyhow.

devil

I'm just trying to be somewhat realistic. when I said:

" Add another 1.5 . from NYC Penn to Brooklyn r/t"

I'm taking into account getting out of NJTransit train, walking up the stairs, getting over to LIRR side of Penn Station, locating proper train and purchasing fare, waiting for train. If it's me I also have to figure in getting a slice and Beer at Rose's, as I'll be hungry.  I do realize that the actual Subway or LIRR train ride is brief, but all of the above takes time, and you often have to wait some time for the next train.

So it's only four hours to fly from New York to San Francisco, But all the ground stuff takes another four, maybe more. If I have a noon flight, I have to leave the house at 9 AM to get to the airport on time.

Anyway, I could see making Brooklyn a destination if I had friends and family there. That would justify the travel time, for sure.

I will say though, most of these young people today can't dance worth a shit -- they might as well get the fuck out of the way for all they're gonna shake it - and with the fewest injuries they will have in their whole life and all that youthful energy in reserve, no less!

So many of the kids (you know, 50 & under) ;) either don't dance or barely dance...... why is that. I wonder.

Maybe we ll see ya there in march...have fun next week!

You Tell 'em Bright day!!!

I commute from Penn Station to the neighborhood of Brooklyn Bowl regularly for work. From Penn to BB would take 40 minutes tops for a slow walker. From Penn you take the A,C,or E subway one or 2 stops to 14th Street, depending on whether you take the local or express. From the head of the train walk down the stairs to the L train, a ten minute ride to Bedford Ave in Brooklyn. From the Bedford stop its a 7 block walk to the Bowl. I usually do it the trip from Penn in 30 minutes but I hustle.

Mr. Eli,

I think your figures are realistic, as a pro who knows the Route.

You most likely get from Penn NYC to BB in 25-28 minutes when there is not much congestion. You do this more than once every six months, unlike a Jerseyland hick.

My guesstimate of  "Add another 1.5 . from NYC Penn to Brooklyn r/t" means total round-trip  time just between Penn and Bk.  90 minutes total including the Slice at Rose's, purchasing the MTA card, locating proper track and all that.

I guess what I meant is "I'm too old & lazy to spend 5 hours of travel time for a 3-hour show;  a 3-hour show..."

for all that go, be forewarned that this is probably a one long set show (2 - 2.25 hours).  That was the case at BBLV a few weeks ago at the PLF shows.

No one is going? I'm going. It will be fun. It will be Phil!

I'll b there Monday ...

The Jerry Dance Party will be there tonight and Monday.  The DJ will be on before Phil, during set-break, and after the show.

Still thinking about going tonight.

It's gonna B a rainy night.

Sunday is a lazy day.

The darkness of the moon besides.

On the other hand, it's Phil.

Decisions?

2 early in the morning.

Perhaps a Sunday morning nap is in order.

or an tangerine express IPA

Certainly not my favorite venue by far, but seeing Phil ( in any band capacity  ) along with it being a Sunday show would hit the spot.. I'm in.

It's snowing a lot, my ride doesn't want to go. frown & honestly I agree it's not really safe to drive where we are & predicted to keep snowing into the night. It's raining in the city though, I hear. Perhaps it is warmer there. (j/k I know it's warmer there) But geez, what a wuss. I totally would have done it when I was his age (early 20s).... actually maybe I wouldn't have gone to this exact show because I already know the bowling will get on my nerves, it fucking drives me nuts, also that it doesn't seem to bother most people for whatever the incomprehensible reason.

But still Phil, so.... hopefully tomorrow.

Any reviews?

graham lesh is nauseating. really hard to listen to that guy sing and play dead. awfully generic sounding and completely

non psychedelic music. that's what i hear.

the dishwasher doesn't have a bad voice tho.
