Turts, I currently put 30% into savings and then 20% into my 401k and have been for quite a few years, can be done. I bought a home where. costs were very low and paid it off in 8 years, then everything went into saving so I can retire early. I was hoping to do it at 50 but that has pasted :(, currently shooting for 55.

exactly why I don't live in California even though I love it, I live in one of the shittiest cities in RI, but I don't have kids and don't care that the school system sucks. I get really good ethic food though, and my home purchase price was a fraction of that

Hey Jklowan.

Have you ever considered how your enthusiasm for jhorts may have affected your chances at successfully procreating?

Not trolling. Just some food for thought.

Almost $1K this week alone

Had an unexpected $1100 car repair a couple weeks ago.

Mark, I've been happily married for over 20 years, she digs the jorts. I didn't feel the need to have mini me's, probably saved the world from alot misery by making that choice, ymmv

I was so sure that I didn't need kiddos that I got fixed at 18

Was this before or after you began your life-long romance with jhorts?

Long after, been  a lifelong fan of the jorts.  I have left explicit instructions that I be buried in them, the ones with holes worn in the ass. You're welcome to come and pay your respects when it happens

That makes sense. I believe that you subconsciously recognized the trauma your jhorts would cause any future progeny; and that was the major driving force in your decision to check your genetics out of the evolutionary soup so early.

Jhorts obviously played a major role here.

or more likely, just maybe, my family wasn't the nurturing, safe space kinda peeps and I didn't have any interest in re-creating what I went through, again ymmv

But they, like you did also not approve of the jorts so that is likely why I love them so, a peaceful protest I will carry on till I no longer breathe

That's horrible, Jklowan.

Did anybody else in your family wear jhorts; or are you a jhort maverick?

not that I'm aware of, but I haven't seen or spoken to them in over 2 decades, maybe one day you and them will see the light. I don't care one way or the other

maybe I'll change my handle to beweir jort maverick, I like it, thanks

You're welcome, Jklowan.

It's what I do.

zoning doesn't pay

Your Jhorts are always welcome here. Also, I'm always glad to serve you up some ethic food...

is the 'h' in jhorts silent?

I believe it's pronounced "yhorts".

my toaster oven fried last night-   pulled the plug and threw it in the garage

Wal mart here I come

I purchased a new Winter Coat a week or so ago,  but it has a "lifetime warranty"  and was marked-down from the former, already cheap price. It's a 'North Face'  brand that's very Wind-proof.

Got a new hydraulic log-splitter for a great deal,  as my other one has some minor mechanical issues.  It's almost paid for itself in terms of dealing Firewood compared to piddling around w/ repairs and NOT dealing Firewood.  That machine was on clearance,  and I had a 10% coupon + no sales tax,  so I can always sell it.  Hydraulic splitters hold their value pretty well.

Transmission lines were rusting out on the Truck,  and I paid someone else to do it,  even knowing I could save a few hundred if I did it myself.  However,  that was worthwhile,  because a running Pickup can deliver Firewood,  which make$ income.

So I've got food in the pantry,  and the Dog is eating well.  My guess is that it's a break-even Winter with slight profit after expenses.

Yes

$15-$18 every day for lunch is killing me.

Sup Joel?

JR my man I haven't seen you in a long time

Life is a roller coaster and I'm adjusting to changes. My dad is 1217 months old and I'm spending a lot of time with him

The in-laws are aging and struggling a lot. I may consider myself retired but I don't think I can handle it. Some of the five kids are An endless PITA.  I just started making a Stainedglass and of course I start with the most complicated piece in the world that's just the way I roll

One thing that shook me up on Monday   When Phil started Txr I made a commitment to see him as much as possible because who knows how long all of this lasts.  I was super committed the first year and then seen him dozens of times each year .   Not all of the experiences have been that amazing edpecially those involving the Terripin family band

last Monday at the house party he literally blew my mind as one of the most melodic and amazing and beaming players I've ever had the pleasure of sharing time with

I will figure out my metamorphosis and Soar again towards the heavens. there maybe an occasional icarus flying to close to the sun but that's all part of the big party.  hope you are well

of course Holly bowling on keys and  Scott law, Leno and Cass McCombs On guitar contributed greatly

We joined a climbing gym last month.  That shit’s expensive.

yes, a ton and i have 3 boys (2 of which are teens) eating me out of house and home.. i am eagerly awaiting my W-2's so i can plan summer travel yes

(and what is/are "jhorts"?)

Jhorts are hemmed jean shorts for men, Scarlet.

Let me tell ya....crack ain't cheep

The gf made fun of me because I wouldn't buy myself a $4 sandwich last weekend. Was having a slow week and didn't hit my financial goals so I didn't spend. Next time I make my goal I'm going to get a trim at a salon.

sandwiches by me are $12...for a starter sandwich.....

Finally getting relief ! I AM DONE For The Rest of January ! No Coin spend !!

It was half off.

if by lately you mean ever since I can remember, then yes.

>Jhorts are hemmed jean shorts for men, Scarlet

Wait... Cut-offs aren't considered jhorts?

Which is the more egregious fashion faux pas?

Cut offs are cool if you show some thigh.

pool boy Kato_0.jpg...

yeah, kind of...

St. Mark was pretty out of line here, did he receive a warning?  Also, please share acceptable short wearing trends.  Everyone knows cargos have been off the table.

Hi 4 Winds I Hope You Are Well !

hi, Plf!!

thanks, and the same to you!

Blew another 20 buck$ on 3/4 - trap rock (gravel) today.  This time I splurged and bought 3/4 tonne.  Most of it already went in the driveway ruts.

It's actually quite the bargain compared to having it delivered or getting it from the "Mulch & Landscaping stone" places.

I get my stuff from the Concrete factory -- they have mountains of the shiite.  No scales either.

Just paid my monthly bills, my homeowners, the monthly mortgage payment,  2018 sewer tax, first quarter property taxes, and medical bills for myself and my son.

Get the deed in March. Things will be a little easier then, hopefully.
