Growing up in Northern Virginia, I visited the place a handful of times. The rows of graves of U.S military personnel, the Eternal Flame by JFK and RFK's tombs, the stately Lee-Custis manor house with it's hillside perch and view. We were taught that the U.S. government seized the former plantation of Robert E.Lee and his wife Mary Custis, and turned it into the national cemetery to punish Lee and the Confederacy, and to honor those who had given their lives to preserve the Union.
It's not surprising that Trump's campaign staff roughly pushed aside a ANC employee who was trying to enforce the prohibition on political displays or acts in the cemetery. It's how they act and what they do, entitled bullying assholes. They should have faced sanctions, but the ANC staffer chose to not pursue charges so the case has been dropped. She was the classiest character in the whole episode.
I understand why they want to keep political displays away from Arlington, but wasn't turning the estate of the commanding General of your opponent into a cemetery, on some level, a political statement?

What a despicable act. "Thumbs up." Really? The ANC service member chose not to press charges - afraid of retaliation by his supporters. What have we come to? F him.

Draft dodging Trump once
Draft dodging Trump once again proves he doesn't believe the rules apply to him. Once again he proves that he has nothing but contempt for fallen service members.
They take their rules seriously. I was once at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the ceremonial guard marching back and forth guarding the tomb. A little kid, probably about four-years-old, was jumping around and guess crossed the line, because the guard spun around in front of the kid like a robot and in a booming voice announced he was authorized to use deadly force to guard the tomb and he needed to back off. Scared the little kid and everyone around him shitless.

Tomb Sentinel is a very
Tomb Sentinel is a very difficult assignment to obtain.
Applicants are hand selected by DA and still takes about a year and a half of training before your first walk.
I know they have to memorize at least a hundred of the more "known" burial plots, and how to get to/from at any point in the cemetery
among a ton of other ridiculously precise and tedious tasks
Yes those M14's are loaded
