Art Bell

RIP ,Art. You had my attention through many of nights road trippin and night shift work.

Holy crap.  I've never seen a pic of him.  He looks just like an old bass player/actor/director friend.  Different glasses, and he's not holding a cigarette, but the 'stashe is dead on.

I wonder if he knows he looks like Bell.

Bump for Art

Had a late night or two driving across the good ole USA listening to Art Bell.

RIP

Used to listen all of the time ...

He was quite entertaining in the mid-1990's for a few years.  Liked all the cheezy bumper music and him peddling Chinese radios,  mood rings and all sorts of Krap.  "Kindly extinguish your radio".

One of the things I love about the New Zone is how long dormant threads are sometimes resurrected pushing up to the top of the black screen like some sort of weird mushroom.

In the Old Zone ...remember...  threads dropped off of Other Stuff darn soon and were thereafter  Archived.

      "peddling Chinese radios"

I'm not sure about where the radios were manufactured, but the company was located in Fortuna, California

       https://www.ccrane.com/our-story

     from their webpage:

"Since selling their first AM antenna, C. Crane has become a premier electronics company. We have developed several radios to serve radio listeners that prefer information, talk radio and audio tuned for voice clarity. After several near 7.0 earthquakes, in 1992 we added radio and light products that would become essentials during an emergency event anywhere in the country."

Actually, the April 25th, 1992 earthquake that I'm sure they're referencing was a 7.2 off the coast of Petrolia
